Here are some suggestions for songs:
After the first minute or so into the song we will be inviting all father/daughter combos at the wedding to dance along with us. We are going to do the same for my fiances mother/son dance. It just has worked out that we are going to have a lot of mother/father/daughter/son combos at our wedding so it should be great! :)
You could totally do Stevie Wonder, such a sweet song and a great father/daughter dance song!
We danced to "Love Without End Amen" its actaully a song abot a father and son, but my dad would sing my brother & I this song when we were younger (and he never sings) so even though its about a boy, we danced to it anyway!
I am pretty sure my Dad and I will be dancing to "In My Life" by the Beatles. He still argues with me that they are the greatest band EVER, so I figured I'd surprise him with this one!
I'm sort of avoiding the reality that both of us hate the spotlight and can't really dance. I like Little Miss Tree's idea to bring other fathers and daughters out onto the dance floor after a minute...that would certainly take the pressure off of us!
I am considering Natalie Merchant's "Kind and Generous", if our band can play it.

I like "In My Life" too but that's my parents' song together.

I would totally love to use "You are the Sunshine of my life" by Stevie Wonder, it's such a great song - it's a maybe but was recently a friend's first dance song.
Another good idea is to think about his favorite music/artist/song and see if something might be fitting.
I am thinking that we will dance to a different Stevie Wonder song - "I just called to say I love you" - my dad always hums that song to me and it's just a song that stands out when I think of my dad. The lyrics aren't a perfect fit, but it's just really representative anyway :)
Stand by me by Ben E. King. it has been a song that has been played in my house ever since I was little.
We are dancing to "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
My dad and I are dancing to Heartland's "I Loved Her First." It's exactly how my daddy feels...youtube it; I think you'll like it.
Josh'sGIrl - that's the song my Dad picked out for us to dance to as well. He's a tiny bit sappy, as you might guess.
We are also using Stand By Me. I can't listen to it without choking up, though!

Both songs brought tears to our eyes when we heard them!
Although I just cried in the car last weekend listening to the Cinderella song, I am stealing Edina's idea and going for the In All My Life by the Beatles because that is my Dad's fav group too.
And I am also going to steal the idea of inviting all the other father-daughter combos out.....perfect!

Hi,
Well... it appears I'm about 6 weeks away from our big day so we're getting into the details now. Any recommendations on good Father/Daughter songs? I was thinking of one of my fav songs from childhood... You are my sunshine, but not sure how that would be to dance to? Has anyone else considered having their fiance/husband dance with their mother at same time (and in my case brother with my mom and his sister with his dad)?
