i dont think it matters really i would just get him maybe a colored bowtie or something to make him stand out- my dad wore a tux but we put the father in red cumberbuns and bowties – groomsmen were black on black and my groom had a black tux and white vest

It doesn’t matter as long as it’s something you’re ok with! I had my dad wear a tux b/c I wanted him to also stand out. He was walking me down the aisle, and I wanted him to have the honor of dressing up just like my mom did.

If your dad found a really nice suit with pin stripes that both he and you love, then let him go for it! It’s about what you both are comfortable with…

Pin stripes sound nice.  I think it is great he picked out a suit he is excited about wearing.

@nursein10: I think pin striped suits look great on guys. Makes them look very put together!

I say as long as he doesnt out dress the groom and they are both comfortable with the suit then its all good.

It depends what the wedding party’s wearing, and how formal the wedding is. If your FI and his guys are in suits, and your dad’s sitting there in a tux, that would be odd. If you’re going for a formal wedding, though, and your FI and the others will be in tuxes, then your dad can be, too. It’s your call when you decide the dress code.

I think it will be fine.

At my sister’s wedding the groom & groomsmen all wore black tuxedos, our dad wore a grey suit. Looked fine.

As long as you/FI/your dad is cool with it it is a-ok.

Either should be fine.

My Dad will be wearing a tux, only because about 2 years ago he bought one at Macy’s. It was on sale for a crazy price and he couldn’t pass it up.

I don’t think it matters, as long as he stands out a little. Our GMs are wearing suits and I think my dad is sad about that. He was pretty set on wearing a tux, but I don’t think the fathers should be more dressed up than the GMs. He will be wearing a special tie to distinguish him.

Mine wore a tux (as did the FOG).  I don’t think it really matters so long as they fit the formality of the wedding.
