Johran McCormick, 17, was shot inside a Spring, Texas-area home Thursday after investigators say the father accused in the shooting woke up to find the teen in his 16-year-old daughter’s bedroom.
Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constables were the first to respond after someone called 911 around 2:30 a.m. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the shooting.
According to detectives, the man’s daughter let Johran in the house and sneaked him into her bedroom.
Her younger brother went to say good night and saw two feet sticking out under the bed, detectives said. He then went to get his father.
The father, who has not been identified, walked in and asked questions, but his daughter claimed to not know McCormick. The father then called 911, but an argument ensued with the teenage boy.
The father told deputies that McCormick dropped his hands as if to grab something, so the man opened fire. The teen died at the scene.
No charges have been filed.
So someone posted this story on Instagram and was laughing that, that’s what the boy gets for sneaking inthe daughter’s room. I couldn’t disagree more. The girl is equally to blame for sneaking the boy in. But I blame the daughter 100% for the boys death. She shouldn’t have lied about not knowing him and making him seem like an intruder. And I understand the dad protecting his family, so that’s a tough one when you feel in danger.
What do you think? Was the dad in reason to shoot the boy? what do you think about the daughter lying about not knowing him?

Poor family of the boy who died. Such a tragedy. And imagine how the father feels after finding out the daugther lied and she snuck him in. The father had to go to the hospital after because he wasn’t feeling well; in disbelief in what he had done.

How horrific, that poor boy and his family. I cannot believe that daughter lied and made the situation come to that.

It’s very sad. Bottomline, the girl shouldn’t have lied. If I were the dad, and not knowing who the kid was, I would assume it was an intruder too.
I remember watching all those tv shows how people live to tell their story. One was about a teenage girl who an intruder came to kill random girls. Thank god her father was next door and fought the intruder.
The father is trying his best to protect his family, and when things happen to quick, people tend to make judgements too quick for the sake of protecting their family first.

Bazinga: that’s how I feel. So ok, she would’ve been in trouble. They both would’ve, but she didn’t have to lie to not be in trouble with her parents. Something so serious like that.

Omg that is tragic. Jesus she will have to live with that for the rest of her life.

So sad. Another completely unnecessary shooting.

Guns. Sigh. Take guns out of the equation and it’s just a dispute.

aussiemum1248: People can do serious damage with hands as well–he could have beat that kid to a pulp.

This could’ve been prevented if the girl wasn’t such a dumb ass & owned up to it… Especially when she saw her dad with the gun. Though, I don’t get why the boy didn’t listen to the dad’s orders.

invisabee: Though damage can be done with hands, the boy might have had a fighting chance to defend himself. Given only the dad had a gun, the boy had no chance.
This is ridiculous on so many levels.

She is in as much fault as the father. This young teen didn’t deserve to die. Shame on both of them.

Well, the girl is the most at fault. But any 17 year old should know there could be dire consequences for going into a girl’s room and hiding when the parents don’t know. He certainly didn’t deserve to die- but it was stupid.

I am so upset that the girl lied! Of course if the father thought it was some stranger in his daughters room he would react differently than if he thought it was the girls boyfriend she snuck in!
Also, Why didn’t he shoot to harm and not to kill? He didn’t need to shoot to kill…..

THIS is what happens when people are allowed to own guns..things may have turned out differently.
