"Sweet Child O Mine"
I really like the song and it made me want to go play guitar hero. I think it would be hard to dance to because it's a little faster then a traditional slow song. I'm having the same as you with the mother/son and father/daughter at the same time an would also like something that is not sappy.
I wanted Rascal Flatts, "My Wish" but I was vetoed by the FI. He hates country and I tried to convince him is not SUPER country but he didn't believe me!
I really like that song a lot and it seems to match your criteria (not sappy). I'm not sure logistically if it will work as a slow song, but it is definitely worth a go!

I don't want a sappy song to dance to w/ my father....we are not like that and more about being funny. My FI is going to dance w/ his mother at the same time and they aren't sappy either.
This song would probably work....but I'm thinking it may be awkward to dance to?
