The song is Tupelo Honey.  It is nearly 7 minutes long!  We want to cut it down?  How long should we dance?  There is a natural break to fade out at 2.5 minutes.  My dad thinks that is still long...what do you ladies think?  My dad wanted me to google "proper song length"  I told him that we would ask the bees!

I'd say right around 2 minutes. It doesn't seem that long, but on your wedding day, it might!!!! Try standing up in the middle of your living room and timing it to see what it might feel like on your wedding day.

I think 2 minutes should work. Another way to gauge it will be to see how long the mother/son dance will be for your FI (if they are doing one). Then cut your music equally.

I think two minutes is the perfect amount of time. Definitely listen to the song and find the best two minutes segment and use that. If you don't want to cut the song down you could always dance with your dad for a minute or two and then invite other people out on the floor to dance too. That'll ease the attention off of you and your dad for the whole 7 minutes.

If there is a natural break there, thats a good place to cut it. 2.5 is a good length, not too long but not uber short where people wonder what happend to the music.

We're coreagraphing our danc,e and our choreographer, who is a professional dancer, told us the average song length is 2:30ish.  Our song is about 2:51, and my father daughter song is 2:40.  It seems long enough to enjoy the moment, but not too long to bore people!
