I love that song, I think it’s a great choice!

I would not recommend it based on the song lyrics/ meaning.  He wrote it for his younger girlfriend.  It has a pedophilish vibe.

Go for it! They won’t play the whole thing, anyway. (You can’t dissect every lyric, that’s played at the reception).

Honestly I wouldn’t, there are much better songs out there than a GNR song

gingerkitten: I love that song! That said… I believe it was about child abuse… so maybe one to avoid? What about November Rain? Too long? Not sure what that one’s really about.

I’ve had a few wines, so hopefully this makes sense!

I’d think it’d be ok.

Then again, I’m just very much over songs like “Butterfly Kisses” and “Cinderella”…  I’d love for someone to say that they’re song was 100% accurate, every line, every intonation, every word.  I’m pretty sure that would be 0% of the cases.

Given you and your dad like classic rock and that song, and that a quick overview of the lyrics doesn’t even hit someone over the hammer with a specific meaning (aka it’s definitely open to interpretation), I’d go for it.

Well he wrote it with his younger girlfriend in mind… so that might actually be a little awkward for a father daughter dance. I know it says “child” but it’s definitely not literal. And I actually do think the lyric is a bit creepy in a father/daughter scenario. I really don’t know that I’d want my dad to think of my hair and that it reminds him of a safe place he’d run and hide as a child. That’s actually kind of awkward for even a bf/gf situation.

The strings version from PP above is kinda cool and would avoid the lyrics so if you’re set on this song, I think that’s the version I’d go with.

There are a lot of great classic rock songs so it seems like there should be a better option out there.

gingerkitten:  yeah that’s true, i didn’t think of the pace of that song. And you’d be dancing forever. I think it might be hard to find a rock song that’s not about a girlfriend. But keep looking, you’ll find something.
