So after spending hours and hours online trying to find something no too sappy for the father/daughter dance I am still un decided.
I have a list of songs I really like ( Constellations by Jack Johnson, or Better When We’re Toghether, Wildflowers by Tom Petty, My Girl by the Temptations, Three Little Birds – Bob Marley, You are so Beautiful- Joe Cocker, SOmething about the way you look tonight – Elton John, Forever- The Beach Boys, Have I told you lately that I love you – Rod Stewart, Your Song- Elton John, You got it- Roy Orbison)
My dad suggested 2 songs that were WAY sappy but I will dance to them if he really likes them. So many choices and so little time.
So what are you/did you/ wish you were dancing to?

We will (probably) be dancing to Cinderella – Steven Curtis Chapman. Before I found that song I wanted Becase You Loved Me – Celine Dion. My Girl and Have I Told You Lately would be great songs for a father/daughter dance too!

My father found a list of traditional father-daughter songs online and we listened to several together, but I didn’t like any of them. I didn’t necessarily want something specifically intended for a father-daughter dance at a wedding. My dad danced to “I Loved Her First” at my sister’s wedding and, honestly, the song makes me cringe. I loathe that song (I mean no disrespect to those who chose or choose it–just my personal preference). Instead, I asked if we could dance to “Blackbird” by the Beatles. My father and I love the Beatles and it is one of my favorite Beatles songs. My father agreed, so we are dancing to “Blackbird.”

Haha – I have no idea. I told the DJ something short, slow and appropriate/standad and he played a 3 minute non-descript father daughter dance song.

I danced with my dad to Father and Daughter by Paul Simon. It was VERY us. Its more upbeat though, so if you want a slow song its probably not for you.

We did Stand By Me for our combined father/daughter and mother/son dance.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I was told it’s traditional for the dad to pick the father/daughter dance selection. My stepdad chose Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s arrangement of Somewhere Over the Rainbow/It’s a Wonderful World. Sappy isn’t always bad and if your dad wants a sweet, emotional, sappy daddy/daughter dance, I say let him! 🙂
