@nerdybird:  Try gold wire? It’s basically hollow but still real gold and wont “unplate.” I have seen some on etsy!

What is your maximum price range? While $90-100 and up seems to be the norm for a 10k wedding band, you can get something below $50 if you win the right auction – I know I have.

If that’s still out of your budget, try something that’s gold filled.

I was just going to suggest what the other poster said. Etsy has a lot of sellers who make gold filled wedding bands. If you type that in on etsy they will all come up for you. They are durable (unlike the plated ones) and inexpensive. I have thought of purchasing one for myself also.

Look at Walmart if you looking for a cheap ring. My SO got my first engagement ring there and it turned out that they have a lot of really nice jewelry below 100 including just a band.

Gold filled is awesome stuff. I am not sure about the newer pieces, but the older, marked pieces are long lasting. I have an antique gold filled bracelet that is engraved on the inside and looks amazing. It is from the early 1900’s. from what I gather, gold filled is a base metal that is wrapped with a layer of gold amd that layer has to be a particular thickness. It is not plated.

Ii hope you love your ring. I love yellow gold!!! Especially with a tan 🙂

@nerdybird:  I see you already ordered something, but I have another idea for you anyways! Skinny tungsten bands plated with yellow gold. They’ll all over Amazon. Supposedly, something about the gold being adhered to tungsten makes it not scratch off, and those cost about $25. Unfortunately I can’t speak from experience as I don’t have one.
