Well. We have planned on doing green gummy bears as favors since the very beginning? Why, you ask? Well… since High School, we’ve send pics back and forth to each other of green gummy bears at different locations (think travelocity knome…). We thought–Hey! Our guests could do the same. So, we were going to box them up with the story attached and ask the guests to send or text or upload them to our website. Here we are 20 days out…and the candy stores website has a heat advisory on it about not shipping over 85 degrees! So we face a choice….
Our other option is Mackinaw city’s Joann’s Fudge. We often travel to the U.P. and are heading to Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island for part of our honeymoon. They do personalized boxes and the whole shabang. We could get them if we order like tomorrow.
Then there is that thought of…Are favors really important? There are so many other “moments” at the reception that serve as a favor. I am extremely thankful for our friends and family and their love and support. Fudge and gummy bears dont seem to suffice. This is one of those times when I feel that the traditions of a wedding start to take over the meaning of a day. Should I even worry about favors? Who is going sans favor?
As a plus, they add something to the tables. As a con, not all people take them, and they are a huge chunk of cash out of our budget.
Lets hear it bees!!!

We were never really concerned with favors and then in January, FH found a website with mercury class ornaments on sale for $1.50! We were searching for vases for the centerpieces and voila! the favors found us! They were such a great deal and since we only have 65 people it was not a large expense!

I think the story behind your gummi bears is very cute and guests would appreciate it more if you included the story you just described (ergo more likely to take it home). But if you can’t afford it, don’t have the time and it has become a hassle, I say skip it. Guests won’t know the difference.

Favors are not required and no one will miss them if they aren’t there. But the gummy bears have a personal meaning to you so I would choose those.

Honestly, if you are going to do favors, I would definately do the fudge. I am not sure how many people actually like gummy bears. I think they are cute, but I really don’t like the taste or feel of them in my mouth. The majority of people, in my opinion, would really love the fudge.

Stick with the gummy bears since it’s personal, but if you can’t get them, skip favors entirely.

Awww the gummy bear story is cute! I think using them as favors would be unique as well as memorable. But if you can’t get them, going without favors wouldn’t be a big deal.

I love the gummi bear thing, but how are you going to get them???
Fudge would be mega expensive (even if you did tiny pieces) but … as a Michigan girl I can agree that it is DELICious! and I can’t see anyone leaving it on the table.

I voted to nix the favors but only because I feel as though it is stressing you out, and favors are the last thing that should be stressing you out right now!
I’m not doing a particular favor, but we are having a candy bar and getting personalized bags for it to set at each place setting. If people want the candy they can have it, if not, I’ll eat it afterwards, hahaha.
If you really want to have a favor, either one is adorable and personal! But don’t worry about it. People are going to look back at your wedding and remember the fun they had and how beautiful you looked, not what the favor was!
