I have an idea for wedding favors that hopefully won’t be cheesy or just left on the tables!
We are doing a rustic/country themed wedding in April. My FI’s sister makes awesome salsa, and offered to can all 300 jars of salsa for our guests (free to us!). They’ll be in mason jars w/gingham cloth over the top and rustic-looking tags that thank them for coming.
NOW, since they are favors, should we set out chips/crackers for them to enjoy it AT the wedding? I know it’s a favor, but I’m wondering if anyone will want to dive right in at the reception?

i would forgo the chips. late nite munchies will probably happen and then all the half-eaten jars and mess will be left behind for you (or staff) to clean up. i’d rather see people take them home and enjoy them there if i were you 🙂

GREAT FAVOR !! love the idea !! – although im with rockout … forgo the chips
unless you want to have something set up for people and little plates where they could taste it so they know that is the same as their favor?? i dont know how this would work – but less mess the better

LOVE the idea!!!!
Definitely not encourage people to open them at the reception. I’ve had brides use wine or champagne splits as favors and since they couldn’t by law have guests open them during the reception because of the venue’s liquor license I used to display them on the placecard table… I’d set them up during the reception and they’d take it on the way out.
Any time I’ve had a wedding do that for whatever reason, there are always WAY less leftover than if they had gone on the tables.
🙂 Good luck!
(and now I really want chips and salsa!)

No chips for this girl either. Have the favors on a table near the exit instead of placing them on the dining tables. Have a sign asking each person to take one as they exit.

No chips! We are doing similar but with various jellies, they will be wrapped and not opened! It’s a favor, meant to be taken home & eaten later!

No chips but awesome idea. I can’t imagine anyone would leave those behind.

OMG I am doing the same thing. I make salsa myself, so I am going to make them favors and since we are having a buffet BBQ style dinner I will incorporate the salsa so they know what they are getting 😀

I love that idea. It is so cute. But I think that they should be favors for them to take home. No need for the chips IMO.

I agree, super cute favor but leave the chips out.
