What are all you brides doing for favors? Looking for suggestions & ideas!
I am taking the easy way out and doing the candy bar idea for wedding favors. I am setting up a table w/ our favorite types of candy and goody bags. Nobody really wants a tiny picture frame, votive candle, or any other junky thing w/ our name on it.
I'm doing wedding cookies (aka mexican wedding cookies, russian tea cookies, butterballs, or italian wedding cookies). They are so easy to make-- pretty much just butter, powdered sugar, nuts, and flour :o) and oh so yummy.
We are doing animal crackers, but we are also getting married at a zoo...
I think anything edible is good. We had also thought about making a donation to an organization that is important to us. We were going to do (and may still) make a donation to the American Cancer Society because we have had cancer on both sides of our families.
We folded origami boxes and filled them with a wildflower see mix and wrapped them with some ribbon and added a tag so the guest know what they are for. Plus we will have some mints.
i think we are doing chocolates!!! yum!
i'm always a fan of edible favors at weddings i'm a guest at...i admit any other little trinkets and monogrammed items i usually throw away.
thank you for all the wonderful ideas!!! sounds like edible favors are the way to go!!! please keep your ideas coming...thanks!!!
I spent ages dithering about favours, and in the end I decided I'm gonna roll the couple hundred I would have spent on them, into the food and drink budget instead. For a signature cocktail/better dessert buffet or such. I do think the candy/cookie or similar buffet are a great idea though. Just don't go faffing about with candles or frames or such.
photo booth: have your guests paste one strip in an album for you to have as a guest book, and they can take the other strip home as a favor! My friend did this at her wedding and it was such a hit!
we're giving maple candy. rustic, casual wedding in NH.
We are doing chocolates. I agree with the other bees that edible is practical and not to mention yummy! I really love the idea of a donation- to a sentimental charity of your choice, and it always feels good to give! :)
I bought these cutes little jars on ikea. (4 for 2.99) i will make sugar cookies and will put 10 cookies per jar.
I am making two types of homemade vanilla and adding a homemade cookie made with each.
I def think a snack to go or even eat on your ride home is a good idea! Mmmmhmm cookies and candies!!
I am making wine glass charm favors, something like this found on Etsy:

We are going to make a donation to a charity in lieu of favors. We will have place cards at each table with the charity information on them.
We are doing TWO favors! And I barely have to do anything for either of them. We are having a subtle concert theme for the wedding. My fiance downloads/trades bootlegs of shows, so he downloaded and burned 40 different shows. Our guests will be able to "shop" for their favorite CD. We found nice white cardboard sleeves, and will use a sticker with our monogram, and mailing labels with set lists and a thank you on them. Our second favor is being made by my aunt. She makes an obscene amount of fudge every holiday season- and gives out lots of fudge as gifts. She offered numerous times to make the fudge for the wedding before I accepted. I didn't want her to go through all the trouble- but she really wants to do it. I found boxes at Michael's (on sale, + 40% off coupon on top of sale, turned out to be 11 cents per box) that will fit 4-5 pieces of fudge per box. We will either just use a monogram sticker to close the box, or use the sticker+ribbon.
We're making a donation to the Alzheimer's Society and I'm making homemade caramel as well. I got our jars at containerandpackaging.com for about $0.43 each and the lids were $0.10 each! Awesome deal! I'm making little jam jar skirts for the jars this weekend. Each table will have it's own fabric that coordinates with a button on the escort card.

I'm having 2, i found vanilla candles in a jar 4 for $1 and some satin bags on efavormart and free labels from vista print total cost per is.50 and we're also having a photobooth.
@bakerella are those your escort cards!?!? that is an amazing idea! i love it!
We are making coasters out of tiles! Each person will get a set of two and it will be less than $1 per set!
We are doing small maple syrup (local sugarbush) bottles with seed paper notes. Maple syrup = yummy and the paper can be planted and will bloom with a wildflower mix.
No clue yet. When in doubt, go edible or else skip them since they are not required and no one will miss them if you don't have them. If they aren't important to you and/or you can't afford them, save your money for something else that is important to you.
We are buying coasters on newfavors.com and one will hold a picture of J and I, and then the other will be on a table when they first walk in, and have their name and table number.... So a pair of coasters, and they work for favors and also table cards.
We are also getting heart shaped cookies with "our" last name in them!!! so that is a favor as well...
So excited. Great ideas girls!
We designed temporary tattoos with our names and date on them :) We are going to tie them to a 80z water bottled designed by us as well. My FI is a tattoo artist and that is how we met, so we are basing our wedding around our story :).
We are making 2 types of favors; homemade vanilla and vanilla sugar so guests can choose between the 2.
We did local raw honey in glass tubes. They were so beautiful and only cost us around $0.60 each. Unfortunately someone thought they were orange colored bubbles and many people believed this person. So if you do this put a friggin honey label on the tag or something.
Cookies in cream colored glassine bags closed with a personalized sticker.
I'm thinking one chocolate and one oatmeal raisin. Gotta break in my new stand mixer! :)
Mini flower pots kits - I'm starting them tomorrow since I'm spray painting the pots in different colors
We are doing personalized baseball cards. Here is the site http://www.customsportscards.com/
Scratch off lottery tickets - b/c our initials spell 'LUCK'
nona49...russian tea cakes are SO freaking good!!! I digress...
We are doing homemade beer as well as sea salt favors a la Mrs. Corn for those who do not drunk.
We are doing bottles of wine..one for each couple..and putting a personalized wine label on them...just bought the 7 cases of wine last week!
A friend of mine worked with a small local candle business and had custom made jelly candles in these little jars with lids -- in her wedding colors. I had never seen anyone else do something like that.
We are doing 2 favors.
A picture frame coaster with shell design from the knot. Got them on sale .99 for 2 coasters.
The 2nd favor is edible and since my Fiancee is Greek we are doing the Koufeta's (Jordon almonds) Our colors are brown and blue so we are using brown mesh bags and blue almonds.
We gave out personalized packets of wildflower seeds. Since the ceremony was in one of the college's gardens and I teach botany, it seemed to fit.
