Olivia is really the only one I like. The other three seem very trendy to me and that's not my cup o' tea.

I have 3 nieces and a friend with the name Olivia. I went with Leighton, I love that name and personally have never met someone with it!

Leighton is my favourite and Olivia is my second favourite. I think Olivia would be my favourite if I didn't have a bad experience with a girl named Olivia ;) haha

The only one other than Olivia is Hadley. The others will be hard to pronounce. I'm all for unique names, but it's got to be reasonable.

I'm sorry, I don't like any of them.  The first 3 seem super trendy/made up (no offense to anyone intended!) and Olivia is so incredibly common these days.

I like Hadley - it is unique but still easy to spell, pronounce, etc. I agree that Olivia has become super popular. Not that that has to be a bad thing, just something to consider.

Seems like you swing between unique names and common names, how about just combining and having Had,ey as the first name and Olivia as the middle? I quite like the sound of Hadley Olivia.

Leighton seems a little too masculine to me.

Madelyn is ok but more common and Adelyn will probably get shortened to "Adele."

    Hope that helps :)

I like Madelyn or Adelyn.....but I'm a fan of the 'ine' spellings. Madeline, Adeline

I voted for Leighton, but my vote may be a little biased since that is my daughters name!

(and nobody has had trouble pronouncing her name, if they did we would just correct them and it wouldn't happen again ;) )

Olivia: love! And I really like Livy as a nickname.

Hadley: I know a little girl named Hadley and it really fits her. It's different but not bad.

Leighton: okat, but sounds more like a last name or a boys name to me.

Adelyn: Don't even know how to pronounce it. Looks like Aidan which is a really popular boys name. No for me.

Of course I vote Olivia- my daughter is Olivia and she is 8 now.  I just wanted to say that it is not THAT common (at least where we live)- she has never had another Olivia in any of her classes.

My favourite is Olivia. But I really don't like Olivia, I never have, so that is saying something about the other names. Sorry! I've never heard of the other 3 names and they don't really sound like names to me (but PPs say they're trendy so maybe they would sound more like real names to people in the US). If it helps, my reasoning is this:

Adelyn - It could be cute if didn't sound like Madeleine (a lovely name) with the first letter missing. Addie or Adie could be a cute name, but just somehow isn't because it is a bit like someone tried to make a unique name so took a letter off an already beautiful name.

Leighton - That sounds like a place name or a surname, not a name. And if it had to be a name, it would be a boy's name. But I do know that in the US, boys' names for girls, and place names for anyone, are common. I just don't like it but that's because it sounds very American to me and not like a real name - I think I'll put this one down to a cultural difference.

Hadley - Same as Leighton. It also reminds me of Bradley, so it sounds masculine. But again, that's less of a problem in the US as boyish names for girls seems to be a US trend.

So, Olivia is my fave because it is sort of the only one that sounds like a name at all. But it isn't a name that I like, sorry.

Also, as a comment to those discussing the popularity of Olivia, I think it is the #1 top baby girl's name in the UK at the moment. So very common, which would also make me not want to name my child Olivia, living in the UK, even if I liked the name.

    @laynamarie22:

Madelyn - Probably my favourite you've mentioned so far. Except I'd definitely spell it Madeleine. It's a beautiful name, albeit with some sad connotations of Madeleine McCann. Plus, there are tons of little Maddies these days, as both Madeleine and Maddison were really popular here a few years ago (I think maybe Madeleine McCann stopped the trend?).

Bailey - Pretty cute. I know a little boy called Bailey. It could work for a girl as well, though. It is a little boyish, but as I already said, that seems to be a trend in the US.

Payton - I don't like this at all. The only Payton (Peyton in her case) I ever heard of was on One Tree Hill. The name doesn't sound like a real name to me, again, and sounds very, very American. But that's obviously not a problem if you're American! :)

I think Hadley is awful, it's such a hard name to me. Olivia is much softer. I voted for Leighton :) It's such a cute mix of boy-girl but definitely feminine enough to be a girls name. Love it!

@All In:  Yeah. Cos Leigh would be "lee" but Leighton would be "layton". Cool. :)

Of those names Leighton is my favorite. I don't care for the other three. Hadley sounds like a last name to me, not a first name.

Olivia is way too popular for my taste, but if you don't mind it being in the top ten for the last couple years (and probably a few more to come), then go for it! I think it sounds cute, but I wouldn't be able to get over the popularity factor.

I LOVE Leighton and Adelyn. Both were favorites of mine before I found out I was having a boy. Though, I am not a fan of the spelling of Adelyn, is there a reason you chose that spelling?

@miss-spunkin:  I thought the y spelling looked prettier than the i spelling.

And you're right, Olivia is too popular...I didn't realize it was in the top 10 when I made this list.  I have to come up with a new list now! Haha

I looooove the name Olivia, but I hate that it's top 10 right now. :/ It's always been on my short list and that made me sad. The only other one I even sort of like it Leighton.
