I use epicurious.com all the time! I love that it archives all my recipes on line, and I have an i-phone ap so that I can download shopping lists directly from the site. It rocks my world!
I don't cook but I know a few people who are crazy about Hungry Girl's books and recipes. They are supposedly very simple and health-full!
@Mrs.DG: download shopping lists directly onto iphone??? I am SO THERE! I usually write our shopping list onto the notepad, but this is so much better! Downloading the app now
I heart the recipes from Southern Living! I may try some of these other sources. Gotta love a good recipe and if it's healthy that's a bonus!
Anybody ever tried the southern living mac n cheese? It's about a half a foot thick and all the cheesy goodness you can handle!
ooh give the recipe belle!!! and i honestly just come to the bee in the recipe thread :D.. that way if i am having a problem i can just ask the person who posted it! lmao i'm so lazy...
I love Food Network, I always go there for recipes. But Ive gotten a lot of Williams Sonoma cookbooks lately and I love them! Italian, Risotto, Hors d' Oeurves, Chicken, Steak, Salad & Soup, there are soooo many! Im waiting to get the Italian and Risotto in the mail :)
As far as cookbooks, I think Betty Crocker is great. Everything in there is simple and tasty.
@naangel: oooh, I am totally salivating over the W&S cookbooks! We registered for like the whole set, haha. I was actually at Costco the other day and they had a bunch there for like half price!
I have a photocopy of the cookbook that came with my mother's CrockPot when she purchased it in the early 80s. Lots of yummy classics in there.
Otherwise, I search online- delish.com, epicurious.com, cooks.com and lots of random recipe blogs and other places I stumble upon.
love foodnetwork.com too! I make a mean stuffed chicken parmesean!
Martha Stewart Original Classics!
You can find most of the recipes online now with reviews too! The steak au poivre & zucchini fritters are the best things I've ever made :)
Sigh Martha... how would I live without you??
Bell that mac and cheese sounds AWESOME! please post it! (my fav food is mac and cheese)
I also like Southern Living they had a whole chilli edition and I heart it :)
I have 4 faves.... (in order of rave)
Serves One (2nd ed) by Toni Lydecker has some great recipes for one that are easily doubled for 2. Has a great section on how to stock your fridge and pantry to cook smaller sized meals with out giving up awesome food with great flavor.
Saving Dinner by Leanne Ely very healthy meals with a shopping list for a whole week of suppers
The Betty Crocker Bridal edition ( which I have had for IDK how may years before even meeting FH) I like the extra party planning stuff in it.
Yound and Hungry by Dave Lieberman some solid recipes that are good with some good party options.
I have two mac n cheese recipes that are my go-to: 1)the southern living iconic mac n cheese just like at a sunday church picnic and 2) hard rock cafe's twisted mac n cheese!
Here's the southern living: (from the 2007 issue) I bookmarked this site and it's also printed off in my cookbook!

It's good! Cheesy! Very old-school comfort food.
I will second allrecipes.com also!
The only downside w/ AR is that most of the recipes call for buckets & buckets of cheese! I don't use cheese often, but I've still tried the recipes w/o & I didn't even miss the cheese! I'm all about cutting calories :)
Also the amount of reviews is extremely helpful!!
I use allrecipes.com and keep an online recipe box there. I just substitute all natural sweeteners like erythritol and stevia for the sugar.
We also have a romantic cookbook wth meals for two called "Intercourses" which has some great recipes.
The grocery store in my parts has some pretty good recipes - www.giantfoodstores.com I got the best recipe on there for a Parmesan Crusted Chicken - and they have the nutritional facts on there, too - which is a big deal to me!
I get a lot of recipes from either Food TV or Cooking Light. I'm not sure if you have to be a subscriber to CL, but they have a lot of great healthy ideas and always include the nutritional information with the recipes.
I love anything published by Cook's Illustrated! Also the two Dean & Deluca Cookbooks are excellent.
I have found some great ideas in the Hungry Girl cookbook, plus a lot of the recipes are for 1 or 2 people. Cooking Light is another staple, and if I'm going all out, Bob & Melinda Blanchard's cookbooks, filled with recipes from their restaurants in Anguilla, always bring me back to the islands.
My FAVE FAVE FAVE cookbook...
Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything
Ms. Dahlia even posted about it!

i love foodnetwork, but my favorite books are tyler florence "eat this book" and anything by the Barefoot Contessa.
When I moved out the first time, I bought a better homes cookbook that's great for all the classics everyone should know and I love it plus I love stealing my mom's Kraft Food and Family magazines. They are so awesome! Guess I should start getting my own sunscription now... hehe
allrecipes.com
I love how you can see ratings and what people changed or thought of it and then they post pics of how it turned out.
My go-tos are a cookbook called Starting Out by Julie Van Rosendaal (from when I was a noob in the kitchen) and allrecipes.com And raiding my grandma's recipe box!
mmm, I third Ina the Barefoot Contessa. I don't make her recipes often. I save her for special occasions!
bellenga: If you love mac and cheese, you should try the Pioneer Woman's version... it is delicious!!!
Martha Stewart Classics is my fav or the Betty Crocker cookbook I got from my mom a long time ago- it has pretty basic recipes
i'm loving all of these recommendations! i've had success so far with paula deen's recipes online.

I avoided cooking as much as humanly possible ... until I started grad school 3 years ago and realized I couldn't eat takeout every night and pay rent at the same time. Turns out, I really enjoy cooking and I am getting pretty good at it! Recently my (and FI's!) FAVORITE cookbook has been Ellie Krieger's book "The food you crave" - they are DELICIOUS and HEALTHY recipes that are pretty easy to make! It's great because the nutritional info is there right next to the recipes - perfect for the pre-wedding slim-down.
We just made another amazing recipe for dinner last night, and I wanted to share this great book (available on amazon) ... anyone else have any go-to recipe sources?
