Revlon Colorstay – Only about $3 and works great.

It’s been awhile since I’ve dyed my hair, but I always loved Feria by L’Oreal.

My favorite is the herbal essences hair dye!

I like John Frieda’s foam. It’s easy to apply, and it doesn’t dry my hair out.

I have a *new* go to hair colour. John Frieda Foam Colour. SOOOO much easier and less drippy and messy than liquid dyes. Mind you I use either a darker brown or the reddish brown version of it, so not sure if it would be as great on blonde, or lighter hair.

I use to switch every time I bought dye but I really like this one.

EDIT: [email protected].I was writing as you posted I guess. Seconded.

but if im just doing black dye i use the revlon color stay. i tend to stay away from Sallys hair dye because it NEVER comes out the color it says, idk for some reason i think their dyes are expired or somethingUndecided

I made a bigger mess with the foam than I do the liquid. Also, the John Frieda burned the crap out of my scalp, probably because of the ammonia. The Revlon Colorstay is ammonia free.

Perfect 10 by Clairol… easy 10 minute application… and gives me good grey coverage too.

Count me in with Clairol Herbal Essences- for those who can  use a semi-permanent color.

It leaves your hair so shiny and healthy looking.

I hated the foam! I found it harder to work with than any hair color.

Nice and Easy is my favorite, followed by L’Oreal.

Interesting to see pros for the foam, I’ve only heard negative reviews.

@jlc3:  Haha, that happens to me all the time. I’ll second your comment about using the dark color and not really knowing how it would work on lighter hair. I feel like going dark at home is so much easier all around, so I’m not sure how it would go for lighter hair.

@MsPoodles:  Great minds right?! Haha. 🙂

I read a lot of negative reviews on the foam too but I thought, why not try it out. I don’t dye my hair too drastically anymore I tend to stick closeish to my real hair colour, but I am the worst at paying attention because dying your hair in the bathroom sucks, lol. I always drip into the sink and on the walls and the floors. The darker dye seems to not want to come off if you don’t notice it right away.

I’m sure the length of your hair makes a difference on what kind you prefer too. When I had a bob I loved dying my hair…because it took like 5 minutes! Now…not so much. I also liked using the Clairol Herbal Essences like a PP mentioned too…the conditioner made it worth it for the shine factor.

I’m a Feria gal. A lot of the others make my scalp itch, unfortunately. I must be allergic to something in them!
