During cocktail hour we had an antipasto display, spinach artichoke dip, ham and pickle roll ups, and grapes rolled in goat cheese and walnuts.

We just had our tasting that included our cocktail hour appetizers.  We have the following and are in love with every one:

Hummus with Crisps

Mini Beef Wellingtons

BBQ Pork Sliders

Bruschetta

Are you providing your own food or having to select from your caterer’s menu?  Ours is from the caterer’s menu.  They are also being passed.  Each appetizer is small bite sized, since there will be no plates.  Depending on how you are serving them (passed vs stations) may determine what you chose.  We think the pork and beef will be the crowd pleasers (knowing our guests).

I am a huge fan of cocktail meatballs. I was a wedding recently that had mini spring rolls that were amazing, as well!

@LADY786:  we had a cocktail hour that was actually not even an hour. So, I just served chips and pretzles.

I love trying new things at weddings so anything you select I’m sure will be fine. Variety works well so everyone can find something.  I would caution to have an app display in addition to passed. I have been to tooooo many affairs where the passed just pass us by and are few and far between and we are starving by the time dinner comes.  A little something at a station would be really appreciated by your guests.

I love cheeses (cheddar, brie, chevre, etc), local artisan breads, hummus, stuffed peppers, jalapeno poppers….

We are having a lot of food during our cocktail hour:

seafood display (shrimp cocktail, crab legs, oysters, clams, seafood ceviche martinis)

wine and cheese table with fresh breads

Meditteranean table

Tuscan table (meats, spreads, etc)

fruit and veggie table

Caribbean station (jerk chicken, plantain, garlic shrimp, mini beef patties)

passed hors d’oeuvres (coconut shrimp, smoked salmon, caviar, buttermilk fried chicken tenders, sliders, pigs in a blanket, tuna tartare, crab cakes, risotto)

Pasta station (penne with vodka sauce, orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage)

Mexican station (fresh made guacamole, tortilla chips, beans, salsa, papusas, Patron luge)

comfort food station (sweet potato fries, mac n cheese, cajun chicken, mini chicken pot pies, creamed spinach, onion rings, mini meatloaf)

@LADY786:  If you can find crispy but NOT greasy little crab cakes, I like those. A little aioli on top and yum, yum, yum!

I personally like fancy cheese, an assortment of olives, pita points with hummus and roasted veggie spreads, and grapes. I could make a meal out of just that stuff.
