Ever since I started dating my SO and experienced his fabulous cooking I’ve become much more interested in food. (If you have a man that can cook, you understand where I’m coming from on this one!) This attention to food, of course, means that the food at the reception is a very important aspect of the wedding process. I’ve already gathered some awesome ideas to incorporate into my own wedding. My favorites:
- Candy bar/Dessert buffet: Yum, much? What could make a wedding sweeter than lots of…well…sweets?
- Mashed potato martinis: How ingenious is this! Martini glasses. Mashed potatos. Toppings such as sour cream, bacon bits, and cheese. And voila! You have a station for create-your-own Potinis!
What are some of your favorite food ideas and creations?

My man can cook and it rocks my world! I read somewhere on these boards about a cream brulee bar that sounded to-die-for!

The creme brulee bar did sound amazing, Another twist on the Martini Mashed Potato Bar I love is a Risotto Bar. There can be different types of risotto and a variety of toppings – mushrooms, asparagus, cheese, peas, etc. Yummy….
What about a mac and cheese bar too? Same concept with a lot of different toppings and if its made to order you can offer several different types of cheese sauces.

Mini foods (ala Peter Callahan)!
Mini grilled cheese, mini crudite, one bite burgers, mini cones of fries, mini cotton candy, the list goes on. I saw his work in an old issue of Martha Stewart & I always loved the idea 🙂

the mashed potatoes ideas sounds great. . .who doesn’t love potatoes with the works THEIR way! Chilean empandas de pino and also the cheese ones are good too. They can make them jumbo ravoli-like size. Southern Deviled Eggs are a favorite of mine. Tea sandwiches, mini quiches for the cocktail hour. The candy bar sounds great too! I just went to a wedding and they had 3 different gourmet petite candies and it was a hit with everybody!
