I really love Ciao Bella's Key Lime Graham gelato! I had it on our honeymoon in San Francisco and it was so memorable!
And coming from Oklahoma, my all time favorite is Braum's mint chocolate chip. To me, no other version comes close. Same with their chocolate chip cookie dough, but I can at least sub Blue Bell for that.
I dunno if it's gourmet, but Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Buns ice cream is amazing. Also up here in the Philly area we have Philadelphia Philly's Graham Slam which is super.
@Swiss Miss to Bee: I was going to say the same thing! "I don't know if this counts, but..."
I LOVE Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Bun ice cream!!!! SO the best of both worlds. :)
@Swiss Miss to Bee: Philly's Graham Slam is Turkey Hill right? I know they claim to sell all over the US but I have yet to find it outside of an area whose locals can tell you where Lancaster County is located. I really miss it- that and the Jigger Shop in Mt. Gretna (I don't know what ice cream they use but it has to be local).
Cinnamon ice cream? How have I never heard of this? Sounds FANTASTIC. I will be keeping my eyes open for this one. Sounds amazing. I freakin love cinnamon.
@Swiss Miss to Bee: I love Graham Slam! Thats my go-to ice cream when I'm watching Phillies games at home and just want to bum around.
I've been eating a lot of gelato lately also. There's this chain in Philly called Capogiro which I go to with my FI and friends for after-dinner desert. They have a couple of unusual flavors too
Our local grocery store stocks a Purdy's (I think a Canadian chocolate company) hedgehog icecream To die for.
Molly Moon's Salted Caramel and Bluebird's Vegan Chocolate Coconut. (Both small shops in Seattle).
Cinnamon ice cream is one of my favorites!! There's a shop in town called McConnell's that makes excellent ice cream!!
@soonerpsych: yummm Ciao Bella!
In college I loved this place in Princeton called Halo Pub. Their vanilla chocolate almond ice cream is so good, but my favorite flavor of all time is Teaberry (but it's so hard to find!).
Jeni's is the most delicious ice cream EVER! Mmm...salty caramel, bourbon brown butter, lemon lavender....
I'm not sure it's "gourmet" but I've never had a better coffee than good 'ol Haagen Daaz.
@soonerpsych: Ciao Bella is DELICIOUS. I had their blood orange sorbet and it was amazing.
I think my absolute favorite over all though is Ben & Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch. I cant' find it that often any more. There's always Vanilla Heath Bar & Regular Coffee but neither of those by themselves are as good as the combination.
Ciao Bella's Malted Milk Ball; tastes just like Whoppers candy!
It's not sold in grocery stores, but this time of year I also love the pumpkin ice cream at JP Licks in Boston. Mmm.
My grocery sells Graetter's (Ohio based). Their vanilla is the best ice cream EVER!!! It is expensive too.
@DeaconBride: Yeah, Graeter's!!! This is actually where I get my Cinnamon ice cream from.
If anyone wants an amazing decadent treat, drop a dollop of cinnamon ice cream in your hot cocoa. It is sooo good.
I like to make my own in the summer. Sometimes I spend a lot more on ingredients than I would just buying ice cream but it is SO good! The best I ever made was marionberry cream. mmmmmmmm
I've had jeni's and it is AMAZING! my fav is the lavendar!
there's another brand that is local here that is high end expensive, comes in I think 4 flavors and is to die for. My fav is the dark chocolate.
Another vote for B&J's Cinnamon Buns! We only have a few grocery stores that sell it here, and none are close to my house.
But, I have spend many hours over the last few years driving across town just to get it.
Hands down it has be Handel's Girl Scout Thin Mint ice cream. Amazing. It is made with real thin mints whcih means that it is, sadly, seasonal. Handels started out as a little local store in NE Ohio but has really spread since then.
We go through A LOT of Ben and Jerry's at our house...FI's fave is Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, and I am a little more varied. My favorite one ever was Dave Matthew's Magic Brownies (Black Raspberry Ice Cream with Brownies and I think a fudge swirl), but they don't really sell it anymore:(
Other than that, there are some great local ice cream shops around here since we are a summer tourist spot!
coldstone creamery and their yummy chocolate devotion flavor and also the strawberry banana rendevous..
Any kind of gelato is AWESOME! But, when is comes to ice cream, I love black raspberry chocolate chip and lemon basil sorbet....

I just discovered my local grocery store is now carrying Jeni's Splendid, which is an amazing local ice cream shop. Though it is expensive, I have discovered I would prefer a few bites of a truly decadent ice cream than an entire bowl of something that's just okay. My favorite Jeni's flavors are Thai Peanut and Queen City Cayenne (Dark Chocolate with Cayenne pepper).
My all-time favorite flavor is Cinnamon, and pretty soon I'll be able to do my stock up run. For some reason, I can only get it during the holiday season.
Has there been any ice cream flavors that have blown your mind and leaving you salivating for more?
