I dont live in NY so Ive only been to Broadway once but I go to the Pantages Theatre in LA often to see the traveling Broadway shows. We have seen Annie, the Lion King, Dirty Dancing, Chicago (on Broadway), Legally Blonde, Wicked (5 times!) and a few more I cant think of right now. Dirty Dancing was really good and Wicked is my favorite since Ive seen it so many times! I just saw Legally Blonde last night and it was so good we are seeing it again next Tuesday 🙂
What is your favorite musical you have been to?

I really enjoyed the Lion King – I saw it a few times! – but a close second would have to be Mama Mia!

Love this thread! I’m headed to NYC soon, and we’d love to catch another play. I haven’t seen many — only Chicago, Phantom, and randomly, Fame (in london). Chicago was my favorite, but I feel so unexperienced in the world of theatergoing! Will love to hear all your faves!

@Penguin – did you see Chicago on Broadway? Thats where I saw it and I wasnt impressed. Maybe because it didnt have any backdrops or anything, it was just a plain stage with a ladder every now and then. I enjoyed the movie much more. But then again it was the first play Id gone to and I liked everything more since then.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a show (hasn’t been in the budget lately). My all-time faves are Les Mis, Miss Saigon and Rent.

Oh man this is really tough. I grew up in Brooklyn, so I saw shows pretty frequently. I was also active in theatre during college and worked in regional theatre after college. Some shows I love because I enjoyed working on them. Others because I enjoyed watching them. I just love too many to pick a favorite.

Les Miserables, Rent and Phantom of the Opera…all awesome!

The Little Mermaid on Broadway was pretty good, but I also enjoyed Chicago (though I agree thinking that the movie was better since the show had limited backdrops and such). I sooo want to see Lion King but haven’t gotten there yet. I also saw Monty Python and Young Frankenstein, neither of which are still running. I really didn’t enjoy Young Frankenstein at all, but it was something my mom had chose for the whole family to see.

I’d like to see Wicked because I read the book and am having a difficult time imagining what it’d be like on stage.
My favorite show has been Mary Poppins which I saw in London. Lion King was great too!
