We haven't registered yet... but I am excited for when we do! We will probably do Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, maybe JC Penney's or something like that....
We'll be registering at CB2 (Crate and Barrel 2 - similar style to Ikea) and Bed, Bath and Beyond.
@UpstateCait: OH I love CB2, that's def going on myregistry.com registry. Good one :-D
Almost everyone bought shower gifts from our amazon.com registry (we also registered at BBandB). Amazon is nice because of the free shipping on most things.
Are you outdoorsy at all? REI is a good place to register if you need camping or biking or skiiing stuff.
We haven't registered yet, but we are planning to register at Kohl's and maybe Bed Bath & Beyond.
We registered at Macy's and it was great! I was vaguely aware when I registered that they offered "reward points" but didn't really pay much attention to it. Then last night (our wedding was two months ago), I got a gift card in the mail for $107.00 dollars based on what people bought off our registry - so, not bad right? I didn't have to do anything except register and they sent the card to us without prompting!
Pottery Barn (for the completion discount) and Bloomies, but we are also asking for some big ticket items that can translate into cash (we have a fixer upper we are working on) so we used a non-traditional registry for some close family/friends called uponourstar.com (so I can register for paint and stuff!)
I think a few is a good idea!
Williams Sonoma ended up being the most hassle for us---we ended up closing our registry there. They also rarely ever have sales and their registry was glitchy for us so we got over it.
I heard a lot of bad experiences with Macys but we registered there anyway---it was popular and we had no hassles and a good experience.
Crate and Barrel was probably our most popular with our guests, and we had a great experience there too.
Our 3rd registry was at Bloomingdales (after we closed the WS one) and we had the best customer service there, but it was the least popular with our guests.
We registered at Macy's and Myregistry.com. I love myregistry because I can pick from all the stores I love (Bloomies, Pottery Barn, Sur La Table, Williams and Sonoma) Hopefully, they all work the way they should.
@penguin: We're thinking of registering at Williams-Sonoma, can I ask what was a hassle for you?

So even though my wedding is almost 2 years away my mom wants me to start working on my registry (I know - she's crazy). Since she's having an engagement party for me she thinks her friends and family are going to want to buy us a small gift off the registry. I don't know if it's typical for your families to do this - but it's pretty common for us to give a small engagement party gift.
Anyways, we decided I'll use MyRegistry.com (all my cousins have used it and loved it) and I'm really looking forward to picking some cute items from different non-traditional stores. I'll do a Macy's registry too, but I want to add dishes and sheets from Anthropologie.
What are your favorite stores to register at? And have any of you used MyRegistry.com before?
