Sex and the City- not the typical wedding movie, but I love those characters like they are friends.
I love Father of the Bride with Steve Martin, but I also love Steel Magnolias (which isn't a "wedding movie" per se, but the whole wedding part at the beginning is fabulous!).
I love Father of the Bride! I haven't seen Mamma Mia yet, but I've heard that's pretty good too.
I'd say FotB, but it's already up here a bunch. My Big Fat Greek Wedding comes in a good second. Monsoon Wedding's pretty good also.
Oh geez, how could I forget My Big Fat Greek Wedding..... so many good lines!!!! "The Bi-bopsy".... "It was.... my TWIN"..... "What you mean, he don't EAT no MEAT?" Hehe. I love that movie.
'The Sound of Music'! I know, not really a wedding movie, per say, but the wedding in that movie, the dress, the veil, the organ, all helped form my ideas of a beautiful wedding. Yeah, so I was 4 at the time, but it's never too early to dream... lol
Oh, and 'Sweet Home Alabama'. Again, not really a wedding movie, but still a sweet movie that at least has a wedding in it.
"The Philadelphia Story" or "High Society", if you prefer Grace Kelly to Katherine Hepburn.
I wouldn't say they are my favorite, but since the others are already up: Man of Honor, Monster-in-law, and The Wedding Planner are enjoyable....
Love, Actually without a doubt. I figure it starts out with one wedding and ends with one proposal, so, it could/should be considered a wedding movie... and the whole movie is based around different kinds of love. Aww! It makes me feel all happy inside just thinking about it. :)
The Wedding Singer - our first dance was the song, "Grow Old With You" that Robbie sang to Julia in the movie.
Steel Magnolias is a classic, though a real tearjerker for me!
I also love The Birdcage. Though it's not a typical wedding movie, the whole thing is a hilarious look at love and how ridiculously weddings can make us behave!! Plus, there's a wedding at the end, so I think it counts! :)
It would be a draw between:My Best Friend's Wedding and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
I adore My Big Fat Greek Wedding (and the Mister makes jokes about it all the time!!).
I hate wedding movies that are about someone stealing the bride/groom or being unfaithful. I just get mad. Like, "what were you thinking, s/he's taken!!" LOL
Biggest Offenders?
My Best Friend's Wedding
Made of Honor
Sweet Home Alabama
The Wedding Singer
The Wedding Planner
Fools Rush In
Wedding Crashers
Having said that, I still find myself watching them over and over again, hoping the end changes (maybe I love them afterall!).
my favorite movie (love actually) has one of the best wedding scenes! I ruv it! i ruv it so much that i'm trying to think of ways to incorporate the phrase "all you need is love" into my wedding somehow.
I was just thinking about funny scenes in movies, does anyone remember Four Weddings and a Funeral? There's the scene where they are getting married and realize they forgot the rings so someone grabs a skull ring and some other crazy ring and they use those?! Sooo funny
The Wedding Date
I love that movie so much and the soundtrack is great! (okay, a little obsessed with that one)
I just saw Bride Wars and LOVED IT! Definitely a great wedding movie--a MUST SEE with your close girlfriends!
I also loved The Wedding Planner and Made of Honor!
i LOOOOVe the Wedding Date and the Wedding Planner!!! Great moviess!!!! :)
I love Father of the Bride! But I also love Wedding Planner and Sweet Home Alabama!!
the wedding planner (j.lo is so cute in it!), and Father of the Bride ( a true classic )
Sweet Home Alabama (Reese Witherspoon totally rocked the birdcage veil), Father of the Bride, and My Best Friend's Wedding (I really love that scene when they're all at the restaurant and they break into "I Say a Little Prayer")
Princess Bride... at our rehersal our officiant did the wedding speech as opposed to our REAL ceremony "<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial; font-size: 13px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px">Mawwiage is wot bwings <em style="font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; text-decoration: inherit">us togevvah todayh.." it brought the house down.. we almost lost it th day of when he paused at the word Marriage and grinned.
I have to go with Father of the Bride with this one. My Big Fat Greek Wedding is also really high on my list!
License to wed!! oh and Bride wars! There are so many! Definitely watch my big fat greek wedding
So many great ones!
A classic: Father of the Bride. So so adorable!
Of the moment: Bride Wars. It was filmed all over Boston so it's really fun when you are planning a Boston wedding
There are a lot of great ones. But, I would have to say My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Bride Wars are two of my favorites.
