    so for my outdoor summer wedding i was going to place bamboo fans on the chairs along with little packets of eco friendly rice. and then when people went to the reception in the gazebo i was going to have insense on the tables along with a little tea packet. well, the thing is, i just found out i'm going to have to pay for my parents cabin for during the wedding (which is understandable i suppose since they're giving us $10,000 for the wedding) but now we're out 1,700 bucks! so i'm wondering, now that i'm having to cut corners a little bit, would it be alright to leave out the tea satchel? it'll only save me about $70 but that could go to something else, like flowers or something. i dunno...

    let me know!!!

    You can definitely leave out the tea. You could skip the whole 'inside' favor if you want, to cut down on costs even more.

    The bamboo & rice is a cute idea!

    i say the fan is cute enough!  No one will miss the rice...unless you want it tossed as you exit.

    I think you could cut the inside favors too.   Most people don't expect to get a favor inside and outside.  You could also turn the fans into programs (if you were going to pay to have separate programs).  Maybe then you leave one of the inside favors.

    I second everyone's responses.  You can leave out the tea bag...I dont' think guests will miss it, and at any rate, not everyone drinks tea.  The fans are a great idea and to me, is good enough on its own.  You can decorate it with a little tag or something so its clear to guests that this is their favor to keep, not just a fan to use during the ceremony and then leave on the seat.  Not sure if you are giving out rice in order for people to toss it, but if you aren't planning on a rice toss, I think you can leave out the rice too and save in that area.

    or if you'd like to keep the teabags, consider cheaper tea.  you can get chinese green tea at an asian supermarket, like 100 teabags for 2 bucks.  it's not a fancy sachet though.  i personally think teabags would be nicer than the incense - a lot of people don't like the smell of incense.
