Hi Bees! I’ve been a lurker for awhile and finally have a reason to post. My ering setting has been purchased and today, my 1.5 ct FB Moissy arrived…and I wasn’t wowed. It doesn’t seem to have a lot of sparkle…sigh.
1. Are the FB’s all identical or do they each have their own unique characteristics?
2. Should I ask for an exchange? I ordered from Fire and Brilliance
Here are pics of the stone sitting on top of the setting.
I’d also love advice on the mount…should I have an oclet, four prong, or six prong? My jeweler says the head will have to be replaced to take this size of stone.

It’s so hard to tell from the picture, but to me it looks beautiful! Have you tried looking under different light sources? I don’t own a Moissy so I have no other advice, just thought I’d add some reassurance!

I don’t own a Moissy, but I’ve heard their color can change drastically. Have you looked at it in all different lights?
Diamonds can have uncomplementary lights too. My diamond looks so dark in my suv, I have all black interior and it picks up all the color.
Here it is picking up the color of my bright pink shirt!

cls9q: Totally agree with this. Here’s my diamond. Top pic was taken in my bathroom, bottom pic was taken at work where basically everything is black or navy.
Definitely check it out in different light sources before deciding judgement OP. Nothing is perfectly white and sparkly 100% of the time.

RoyalBabyCakes: I’m not sure what an oclet is but I think the four prong you’re holding is lovely. Dip and clean the ring then try in different lightting as all the PPs have mentioned. My diamond goes from brown to blue to black to pink to yellow to green depending on the environment So I’m sure moissy which is supposed to be a moody stone anyway will do the same if not more. Don’t settle with anything you’ll be unhappy with tho. Perhaps go to a jewler and do some comparisons to diamond and white topaz etc to see how your moissy behaves next to them in similar lighting conditions

cls9q: That’s a cool picture! And you are right my diamond picks up almost as much color from its surroundings as my moissy!

RoyalBabyCakes: your stone looks beautiful to me! I don’t know where you are from but I’m on the east coast of the US and we havnt had much sunshine so my moissy hasn’t had crazy sparkle either. And just regular home lighting isn’t the best either. take your moissy to a store with florescent lighting or a jewelery store and trust me it will sparkle like mad!

Top picture is my diamond reflecting the sky and my pink cell phone case. Bottom picture is of my oec moissy reflecting the beigh interior in my jeep.
I had the diamond removed from the setting and the moissanite put in. I absolutely love moissanite, and wish I had tried it sooner! I like both 4 prong and 6 prong. You can’t lose either way!

RoyalBabyCakes: Are you 100% sure it’s a Forever Brilliant Moissanite? Another bee ordered from a smaller shop (aka not moissaniteco) and she accidently ordered a Fire and Brilliance stone which is a cubic zirconium I believe. She emailed the dealer and they traded them out. The only thing I could suggest is emailing moissaniteco and see if you can get one of their clothes that is supposed to help get any sort of residue off the stone. Or send it back and order directly from Moissaniteco dot com. I haven’t heard of anyone who expects moissanite to be disappointed by what they get from them. Good luck!

When I first got mine, I thought it was beautiful but I also expected more sparkle (I was in a dark apartment with no sunlight coming in).
Then I shone my iPhone’s flashlight on it. Holy hell. Glitter bomb. Seriously, try it. I fell in love instantly, and once seeing it in different lighting situations I fell even more in love!

okay–you guys rock…I looked at it outside, in a store, next to a window, and next to other colored clothing…and it looks great! Yesterday it was dark and cloudy here, not the best way to view the Moissy!
I am sure that’s is a FB Moissy–it came with the warranty card from Charles and Colvard and everything. 🙂
Today I dropped the ring and stone off at a local jeweler to have it mounted in a four prong, twin tipped mount. Woo hoo! I’ll show off my sparkly awesomeness in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, cloudy days and moissanites are not friends. But the rest of the time. .. wowza. I seriously love mine more than I ever loved my diamond. Some of us just like that super sparkly color show!

My moissy is super moody. Cloudy days are when mine looks the worst. I have an oec so lamp light and candle light really make mine sparkle!
