It's fine either way in my opinion. And if they would rather wear short dresses and you think they'd look better in them then go for it!
I have a feb wedding in Ohio and my girls will be in short strapless dresses! I told them they could wear long if they wanted to, but everyone agreed that short will look better. I did get them pashminas to keep them warm if they get chilly.
I can't recall a time I ever went to a holiday party wearing anything BUT a short dress. And I lived in Chicago! No one will care, so if that's what BMs (and you) want, let them have at it!
We're doing short bridesmaid dresses for a February wedding! We'll have pashminas as well!
If your wedding is indoors I see no problem with short dresses. I was in a friend's wedding and we were short dresses in winter...outdoors and we all froze.
I think that the short dresses are fine as long as the girls are ok with it! You just can't require that they spray tan...that needs to be their own personal preference...

Feb Winter NJ Wedding, all my girfriends want short dresses, I think they would look BETTER in short dresses and spray tan?
however is this OK?
