I'm thinking Feb right now!! My top choice would be Feb 5 but when I asked fiance when he wanted to get married he made only ONE date request: not superbowl weekend. :) So now I"m thinking Feb 26 or (if there isn't an increased fee for being so close to v-day) Feb 12. I have no interest in a heart-themed wedding, but its the date that works best for us.

i know how you feel, we dont want a heart theme wedding. though we will have some hearts in our theme pallet, we are having a alice in wonderland/mad hatter theme! we want lots of fun and festive!

where are you planning your big day at?

oo alice in wonderland, that will be fantastic! I"m in Columbus, Ohio. We haven't picked a venue yet but we're trying really hard to avoid the typical ballroom look. My FI always wanted to get married outside (not possible in Ohio in Feb), so we are looking for some place that has floor to celiing windows and a fantastic view. Top two picks right now are both converted industrial buildings with lots of exposed brick and steel. I'll be SO happy when we get our venue BOOKED. :)

i know what you mean! we are both from different states, him=Michigan, me=New Mexico. so we made the choice to not have a wedding in either state. so we decided to go with the state we met in=Florida!!! so we are hoping for kinda of a outdoor ceremony with maybe indoor/outdoor reception. we are really looking at this place, Lange Farms, near Tampa. hoping that it will work out!

i bet whatever you pick for your venue will be perfect! a blank canvas sounds like soo much more fun!

I'm not sure what I count as, I'll be celebrating in both Feb and April! We're planning on doing a super simple beach ceremony while in port in the Bahamas while on a cruise during Presidents week 2011.  I'm really excited that I'll also be going on a cruise this Presidents week so I get to actually see the site and all and possibly do engagement photos. The plan is for it to be very small, short and sweet.  No reception but maybe a lunch or dinner with everyone there.  BF's family has made taking a family vacation during Presidents week a bit of a tradition now so a trip at this time would happen anyway.

In April we're going to have the big affair here in NY at CitiField.  We may possibly do another simple ceremony and then a cocktail style reception.

I still have yet to figure out which one will be my "real" wedding date, and to make matters more confusing we're probably gonna have to make things official even before the cruise just because of the difficulties of getting a marriage license in the Bahamas (gotta be there for more than 24 hours) Undecided

I feel a little ridiculous at the idea of technically 3 weddings! LOL

Another February bride here!  We are getting married on February 20th in Oklahoma City.  Our reception will be in an old movie theatre.  I told my planner that the mood I was going for was Mad Men meets J.Crew and Anthropologie...and she knew what I was talking about, which is great (because I don't even really know if I do!).  I can't wait to plan with you!

Hi ladies!  I'm a February 2011 bride too!  The 19th to be exact.  I just joined the site and I am already addicted!  I'm getting so many great ideas and prespectives.  Love it.  Laughing  Our wedding doesn't really have a theme at this point, but I want it to be kind of funky, but still sophisticated and tons of fun.  We're both really looking forward to the planning process.  Can't wait to see how everyone's BIG DAY comes out!  Less than a year to go girls!!!

We've booked our reception venue, church, and photographer/videographer, so we are on our way!  I made an appointment to go dress shopping for the first time, too!  so very exciting!

    How's everyone's planning going?

Update: We have a venue and a photographer-- woohoo! We're not having a dj (ipod wedding) and I think I'm going to DIY flowers, + our venue is doing the food.... so my major vendors are DONE! So happy about that :)

I'm still struggling with a "theme" though. I'm kind of scattered about it. I like the inspiration board I've made that is silver, gold, and blue. I'm thinking also maybe TINY touches of blush pink like maybe just my bouquet and accents.... but I don't know about a real "theme." At first I was all about winter wonderland but since I don't want it to be all about snowflakes or snowmen... I don't really know what else to do with that other than the colors. I also feel like I'm not sure we have the money to pull off a real theme..... maybe my theme is "we're getting married"? heh

hey corgi! are you getting married in columbus? i'm orignally from there, and a bunch of people are coming down to texas for the wedding. my biggest fear is half our wedding is going to get snowed in up there! i know columbus got pounded with snow this year...

and our theme is 'we're getting married..lets have a huge party'.

@blondeeebuckeye- haha i love that theme! :) Yes, I am getting married in cbus... in the Smith Bros hardware building near 670/4th. They converted it into a venue about a year or so ago and its so cool now! Very urban grunge! I am also terrified of snow.. This year was terrible. It was the 2nd most snow ever in feb for us I think. Almost all of our guests are traveling to get here although there should only be maybe 5 coming by plane (all the rest are from cleveland/michigan and will drive). My biggest fear is a snow storm closing down the Syracuse airport because that is where FI's mom is coming from and I'm not sure we could go through with the wedding if she couldn't be here! We're going to try to make sure she plans to come a few days in advance so if there is a huge snowstorm hopefully she'll still get here in time (it seems like the airport is never shut down for more than 2 maybe 3 days max).

    @CorgiTales:

I'm budget bride, and I totally understand the theme dilemma.  I finally just made a list of all of the things that were the most important to me, prioritized them, and let the theme sort of come out on it's own.  It's unconventional, but we're very excited.  We're going for an indie/boheme wedding theme, based around peacock feathers.

    This is my inspiration board:

    February 2011 : wedding Inspirationboard

We're having a really simple wedding, and almost all the plans are made already! :-)  Not paid for, but planned and decided.

@ elusivephoto...i LOVE your inspiration board! it's so cute and colorful...totally winter appropriate, but it's a little different than things you normally see.

@ corgitales i know exactly where that building is! i had no idea they converted it to a venue. i love old buildings like that..i'm glad columbus did that. i'll be interested to see your photos from it next year.

i went dress shopping for the first time this weekend..it was a good experience! i found three that i'm keeping in mind(thank goodness for photos)..i'm very indesicive when it comes to things like that. glad i have some time :)

@blondeee- thats so exciting that you went dress shopping! I'm putting it off until this summer bc I am unhappy with my size. blech! lol

Thanks! We're doing everything handmade or vintage, it will be very "la vie boheme."  Mostly, we want it to be a relaxing fun celebration!

@corgi:  If you're going for the urban grunge look with your venue, have you considered going with jewel tones?  Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald?  They're gorgeously rich for a winter wedding, and look so great with the urban grunge feel. :D Not to make you more indecisive, just thought I'd throw it out there! :D I've changed my colors so many times since the beginning of planning, but I think I'm finally to a point where it won't change again.  Initially it had purple and chocolate brown in the color scheme! Haha. I'd love to see your inspiration board!

Also, I am not happy with my size either, (or more correctly, my level of tone) I've been working out a lot lately to at least try and tone/sculpt some) but dress shopping actually was a great experience for me, and made me feel a lot better about myself, and has provided good motivation to keep working out.  Maybe if you found a beautiful dress, even if it wasn't "the one" it would give you a visual to work towards?

@blondeeebuckeye: Yeah, there's definitely some non-traditional factors to our wedding, and the inspiration board is just the beginning! Haha, when we first started wedding planning the first thing FI said was "we can do the wedding however you want, but our cake topper is going to be LEGO." :P

I'm cool with that though, we originally met because of legos and star trek, so it has sentimental value.  The rest of the cake is going to be how I want it.  We went to our cake tasting about a week ago and decided on a (delicious) lemon cake...it was like eating a fluffy turquoise dream, I've been craving it ever since.  The coolest part, though, is that the inside is going to be colored, so while it looks all white, traditional, and pristine on the outside, you cut into it and it has peacock colored stripes. :D

Like this, only dark blue, teal, and emerald green.

    February 2011 : wedding Cakestripes

Now, according to my family, it's apparently become the "etsy wedding" which cracks me up, because I was an Etsy addict way before WB or engagement. I love the bohemian/indie look, and am so happy with the way stuff is turning out.

I've almost decided on the style of my dress, and it's being custom made by this amazing independent (etsy) designer/seamstress. I'm being REALLY indecisive about the dress too! I'm going to try on dresses for the last time tomorrow, to decide on the general style, but my seamstress is all ready to start on it, and I want to give her plenty of time.  So I'm going to have to make a decision.

I would love to see the three pictures of your dress blondeee!

This is the style I'm leaning towards, but I'm still in love with my initial pick, too:

    February 2011 : wedding Dress2

This is my initial pick, which would be made with a corset back (with peacock colored ribbons) I love the bubble skirt:

@corgi: ooh! Which one? I would love to see it! I was totally in love with Maggie Alannah (very similar to the liancarlo dress that was my very initial pick) as well as several other Maggie dresses, but I very quickly found out that they were just too heavy for me. I wished so much that it would've worked out. :(

Oh beautiful! You'd get it in gold too? What a bold move, I couldn't pull it off with my skin tone but I think the gold dresses are gorgeous.  It would look just as pretty with spaghetti straps or straps like on Maggie's Myra.  :D

@elusive photo- i would get it in gold i think! I have no tie to the "white wedding dress" and neither does my mom or family. I am suuuuuper pale white so I think that it would look really good on me and pop more than a lighter color. I'd just have to make sure it isn't vegas-gold :)  For straps, I love those ones that you showed but the ones I have in mind for it would actually be a twist on spaghetti straps. I'm thinking like 3 super skinny straps coming out of each front corner of the dress, going around my neck and forming a criss-cross line all the way across my back (so they like spread out... if that makes sense?)

Maggie gown's gold definitely does not look like Vegas-gold, so you won't have to worry there! :) I have a friend who had straps on her gown almost exactly like you're talking about, it looked so nice!  Plus, it would be so gorgeous with that style dress! What an awesome addition, for sure!

I just realized, your wedding is only a day after mine! :D

Any idea where you guys are going for your honeymoon yet? We're having trouble deciding.

No, we're not too sure. We have a $3,000 budget so nothing too extravagant. FI's top choice is hawaii because we've never been, but I'm really not sure we can do it "right" on 3k and I don't want to be roughing it on our honeymoon.

I'm thinking maybe costa rica? It is a lot cheaper than hawaii, and it has the same nature vibe. Its supposed to be one of the most diverse areas on the planet in terms of animals. FI is a little nervous about it because its not as typical a location, but i hope to do some more research on it and maybe force our decision one way or the other. Other than that I really have NO ideas. Where are you considering?

We really wanted to go somewhere tropical, but I have the same concern that we wouldn't be able to do it "right" on our budget. So now we're looking at some cozy/intimate mountain resorts, with room service, jacuzzi tubs, fireplaces, and spa services. :D

My top pick is the Kohler resort in WI.

     http://www.destinationkohler.com/location/activities.html

We knew we didn't want to go the B&B route, and while being tucked away in a snowy mountain cabin has it's appeal, I refuse to be cooking on our honeymoon.  Chances are, we won't be doing a lot of sight seeing anyway, so we decided to put the money towards a more luxury resort.  There's also a few places we're looking into up in the Poconos that could be nice, and affordable.

    You look BEAUTIFUL!

The second one is Coco, right?  I actually love the first and third the best, but the second looks great as well!  I love casablanca, we don't have a DB locally, though, so I haven't tried on any of their dresses.  My current favorite designers are Liancarlo, and Paloma Blanca. *swoons*

I'm going dress shopping again, tomorrow, so I may have some new pictures to post!

Okay, so may I say that I officially do not like dress shopping?  I'm so glad that it didn't take long, and it was fun to have my friend along with me.  She wants to go again. =/  That's not happening.  I tried on the paloma blanca dress again, and just realized that it is definitely the dress for me, so yay for that! :)

you both are right..the first dress is coco and the second one is the 1800. im really liking the coco one more and more. we are going to do a little more dress shopping on friday, because i am going to be busy every weekend for the next month.i tried coco on in another city that's 4 hours away and i called around to try to find it in my city and not one store has it! and i live in a much bigger city than where i originally found it! it's a bit frustrating...i wanted to show it to my family, since i orignally found it with my FMIL & FSIL.

@elusivephoto---i really like that first dress you tried on. it's really cute. i LOVE the top part--it's very flattering. did you buy that one???

Well, I sent a picture of it to my seamstress (an independent designer who I met through Etsy) she's custom designing the back of it for me, and we're going to find a brooch for it that goes a bit more with our wedding theme.  But it's still going to be that gorgeous champagne colored dupion silk. *swoons*

This is the original back, which I didn't like at first - but it's growing on me.

February 2011 : wedding Paloma Back

This is a similar styled back that I was looking at, it would definitely "work" with this dress, with a few modifications:

February 2011 : wedding Alt Back

My other option is to do a half-corset style back, with really thick ribbons, and have the ribbons cascade all the way down the the floor, which I think would be really neat and different.

ah! i'm so jealous that you guys have your dress figured out (mostly). i really do need to just bite the bullet and go look.

also @elusivephoto--- i keep thinking more and more about your peacock thing and i'm really loving it! i think you might have inspired me a bit to move in that direction color-wise. although i'm thinking more of coppery/gold as my main color with just accents of blue and green. I think i'll stick with solid-colored cake though... fancy pants cake isn't in the budget, despite the total coolness of it! :)

Hahaha, I love the peacock feathers - it's going to look gorgeous in the space too, because it's very neutral, and moody, if that makes any sense.

It will look beautiful with bronze!

Thanks! I like both of the backs, still haven't decided though. :P  The 2nd one is the back of a liancarlo dress (the front isn't all that pretty, actually...), surprise surprise.  I love Liancarlo.  If only I had money... :P
