Lets discuss and hopefully DESTRESS ourselves!!!
Lets discuss and hopefully DESTRESS ourselves!!!
I still have so much to do!!! All the big stuff is taken care of (attire, officiant, food, alcohol etc) but I still have so much DIY and little things to finish organizing!!! I’m getting so stressed now.
It’s the first of february here now so we are officially in our wedding month (just 8 days to go). I was finally able to check the weather for our date in the long range forecast and it looks AMAZING!! They never forecast over 20ish degrees in the longe-range in our area so it will probably be 23-24 degrees (celsius) which would be absolutely perfect, not too hot for the guys in their suits but still lovely and warm. A northeasterly breeze would be perfect to.
How is your wedding planning going @Louloudi38 ?
I’m getting so nervous now but I really can’t wait to marry FH!!!
@PrincessConsuelaBananaHammock: You will have BEAUTIFUL weather for your wedding day!!! Im in the same boat as you, just doing all the last minute DIY projects! I have my 2 final fittings this week and the following right before my wedding. Very exciting! The weather here has been so whacky. Im hoping for 16 degree weather. It’s still winter here but some days have been much warmer than others!
Do you have have pictures of your gown and inspirations?!!?!?!
@PrincessConsuelaBananaHammock: My alterations are still in the works. I need to get my shoes and earrings this weekend and we still have not finalized a place for drinks and appetizers after we get married, or whatever we are going to do after (we are just doing an intimate family and closest friends thing, about 13 people total). I am looking forward to it and at the same time can’t wait for it all to be over.
I’m getting there! FI’s wedding band, GM gifts, the favors and BM dresses all came in the mail this week. Our final meetings with the caterer and photog are this coming week, as well as our second to last dance lesson! I still have to make a seating chart, but I have all the guests grouped-out and just need to shift a few around to even them out into tables. And my dress is all ready to go, but I still need to find my something borrowed and something blue!
Nothing! All is done… 🙂 Just picked up my dress today!
All I need to do it clean the house before I go (I am traveling). Once in, need to get dress pressed, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner and get married 🙂
oh and keep going to the gym 🙂
Oh goodness. SO much.
We need to:
– Finalize ceremony music (we have ideas- just nothing definite)
– Make a sign for the flower girl to carry down the aisle
– One of my BM’s DOESN’T HAVE HER DRESS YET because her first one didn’t fit and the second one has been at the post office overseas for THREE weeks!
– Finish centerpieces
– Figure out the arrangement for ceremony (sitting, standing, etc)
– Figure out reharsal dinner (where/ who’s coming)
– I need a veil…
– ALL of my BM’s are slacking in picking out their accessories (I’m letting them do it themselves). One of them still needs her shoes
– Hair trial
– Makeup trial
– Mani/ pedi
– Fit my life into 2 suitcases because we’re moving overseas right after the wedding
– Find someone who’s willing to buy my dress immediately after the wedding
– Sell my car
– Pay a traffic ticket before we leave
– Call my optomitrist and yell at him that my contacts aren’t here yet and I’m leaving the country in 2 weeks
– Finalize who’s doing setup/ cleanup at reception
– Buy plates/ napkins for reception
– Finish buying things to organize our new house then figure out how to pack them into a suitcase with all my clothes
– Finish boutonnieres
– Resize/ engrave/ polish rings
I’m sure there’s more but I think that’s enough for now 🙁
The Big Day is Feb 23. I had a meltdown in the mall yesterday because of how much I have left to do. So embarrassing.
@LeavinOnAJetPlane: I can somewhat relate to you. I moved to Canada 7 months ago and was planning a wedding in NJ at the same time. Thankfully a lot of my venders were really good with working with me and my crazy schedule. The best thing I’ve done is write a list on paper and tick everything that I get done. Also, I did a LOT of DIY but as the day is getting closer I started to just order things online because it helped ease my anxiety. As far as bridesmaids, emails emails and MORE EMAILS. to continue reminding them of the deadline and how you would appreciate them getting things done to ease your mind. You will get through this, I promise you. This has tested my patients and confidence throughout this year planning and traveling. You can do this! Start packing tonight if you can. Things you definately dont need on a daily basis! Im selling my first dress on Preownedweddingdresses.com Its the BEST place to sell wedding dresses. There is a 25$ fee but your dress will sell if you put it at the right price point!
Good Luck with everything! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
@Lepidoptera: Thank you! It’s good to know I’m not the only one who’s done this. I’m getting so overwhelmed trying to do 2 things at once. My FI is more involved in the wedding than most guys thank goodness, but he’s been working overtime trying to make sure we have enough saved up, and even though he’s normally the one to calm me down, he’s getting just as stressed about it as I am. It’s just very difficult to buy things for the wedding as you’re trying to get rid of everything you own at the same time.
My one BM who doesn’t have her dress lives out of town, but I’ll see her tonight. Her plan is to take the other dress to a seamstress to have it altered in case the one that’s been at the post office for so long doesn’t get here in time. She’s supposedly doing that today, so at this point I can only sit back and hope she has something to walk down the aisle in…
Not to mention I’m at home at the moment and the family drama is at a crazy high level. My mom’s viewing this more as a family reunion than a wedding and is stressing me out with details that personally I care nothing about because they’re not wedding/ moving related and I’m too busy to deal with anything else.
I get married on 23rd Feb too and still have quite a bit to do. The most time consuming is the bouquets.
Just try and do one thing each night to get through it all.
and have glass of wine to chill!
@Flash82: We were going to do DIY flowers, but last week my uncle called and said he had a friend who used to be the head florist at the major grocery store around here, and she had retired when she had children, but is now trying to get back into it independently. I had my consultation with her 2 days ago, and turns out since she’s just starting again, it’s only going to be $60 more than if we had done it ourselves (our plan was to order in bulk from Costco or Sams and arrange them the night before/ morning of). Needless to say we went with her because $60 is definitely worth being able to cross something else off our list. She’s also not pushy at all and is giving me the exact bouquet I want (fortunately I found a picture of my dream bouquet so I was able to show her and she was able to replicate it).
Wine is a good idea! I definitely need more of that!
@LeavinOnAJetPlane: I yelled at my eye doctor too! They were supposed to send my prescription over to Costco (cheapest place to buy contacts) an they didn’t send them till last Friday. It takes them a week to arrive (not counting weekends) . I was freaking out bc I am on my last pair right now. I was going to tear someones head off LMAO. Needless to say, I have them now. Hope you get yours soon!
@Lepidoptera: We are actually doing it on a Wednesday night. We are going with a group of girls to a drag show/dinner show and then going out for drinks 🙂 I wanted to do it Friday (before the wedding) but if I was out drinking, I probably be 1) bloated 2) hung over lol
@LeavinOnAJetPlane: Nerves can really get in the way of getting things done. Just remember you are both under pressure. When it comes to getting rid of your things try this. Put up a listing on craigslist simply saying “Moving out of the country, have a ton of beautiful furniture and things to be sold at low prices!” Take a million pictures of everything and post it on that thread with estimated prices. BOOM! Done! To expidite shipping costs put down that people can either meet you somewhere or you can have them pick it up at your house since you are moving soon anyway.
Have faith in your bridesmaid that she will get everything done!
My mother was doing that to me in the begining. My only response to her is, Its taken care of, dont worry. If you keep saying that she will eventually bug off. This isnt about her this is about you. If she is making this into a big family reunion try to use “My wedding day” A LOT in sentences so she gets the point. So be sure to remind her of that. I’ve had to do the same with my parents. Don’t look at it as drama, look at it as a SMALL bump in the road. Things like that are miniscoul compared to moving to another country. I can also relate to the ANNOYING paperwork that goes with it. UHG! But we got through it and Im in one piece and you will be as well!
