I’ve had an opposite problem which was that FedEx left a $1700 computer that was shipped signature required with ID of named addressee with the office staff at my apartment and then didn’t leave a door hanger. My mom was supposed to hold on to it for me after picking it up from the Apple Genius Bar but sent it to me without telling me and I asked her some 10 or 12 days after she shipped it if she had picked it up and she was shocked I hadn’t gotten it yet. She called Fed Ex who said it had been delivered and signed for, but the last name was 1. not mine, and 2. not a name we knew. She was pissed and started looking into filing a claim. Then about a week later, the office staff dropped it by because we hadn’t picked it up. Fed-Ex refused to refund her the shipping even though she paid for a delivery method that they did not adhere to.

Anyway, if a signature is required, it’s a good thing that the Fed-Ex guy is sticking to it even though it means you have to wait longer. How would you feel if he had left the package at your door and it disappeared?

We bought a 32 inch flat screen from best buy on boxing day sale online, we were out of town when we ordered it and arrived home from our holiday to it sitting on our porch.. NOT WRAPPED, not in another discreet brown box. Flat out, Sony Bravia box on the front step of our house. WTF people. I swear it didn’t get stolen because people probably assumed it was an empty box from a christmas gift getting ready for the trash.

@the boss of you:  A ring is also a lot smaller and easier for a delivery man to hide! That’s awesome that he’s coming back to deliver it to you at a better time though, super nice of him.

FedEx left a $3,000 Apple laptop/screen purchase at a neighbor’s house that I’ve never met before and who doesn’t speak English a few days ago.

So i’m less thrilled with them ;-).

But, we got our stuff (it didn’t end up on eBay! Yay! Property crime is high here, so you never know….)…

From what I understand Fedex drivers are independent contractors and buy their own trucks, so essentially they don’t always follow the rules.  I’ve had quite a few different drivers just dump things off or had someone else in the building sign for one of my packages when they shouldn’t have.  I do believe it depends on who you get delivering on any particular day.  Glad to hear it worked out well for you.  The ring is very pretty.

@crayfish:  I’ve heard more than once now how Fed Ex drivers will just leave a delivery with a neighbor without permission. So ridiculous!

I know how you feel. Reminds me of the time I chased down the UPS truck in winter in pajamas and socks. No coat. The crazy woman startled him so much I got my package.

Uh!  I once waited for the Fed Ex guy at an apartment building and he NEVER RANG me!  In other words, he did not even bother to buzz me, there is no way I could have known he came and I was waiting all day for him at my apartment.  I was so beyond pissed!

@cbee:  We had this happen recently two days in a row!  We finally got on the phone with his supervisor and he had to come back at the end of the day.  At which time he still didn’t buzz us.  He left the package in the mail room without getting a signature.  The most frustrating part of it was that it was a 20 dollar teapot, that we have no idea why the sender would even require a signature.  GRRRR!

@Pamelor55:  Oh my gosh I am literally laughing my ass off with this image in my head! And everytime I re-read what you wrote I burst out laughing all over again! 😀
