Doesn't look like a costume at all - it's gorgeous!! It will look fantastic at a black tie wedding. :-)
do you have a pic of you in it? If you bought it, the store should allow you to take a pic in the sample dress...I personally find it really hard to tell based on pics of models!
I'm about your same height & was also surprised to find myself buying a trumpet style. I don't think it looks costume-y at all. As someone else told me...when else can you get away with wearing a fancy white dress? My only concern is if the top will be too small for you & a Catholic wedding? Does your church have restrictions?
Thank you for the feedback and nice comments! I tried to take a picture with my camera phone when I bought it but it came out too blurry so I don't have one now. I guess I will have to wait until the fitting. The church should be ok with the top, I haven't heard of restrictions.
Oooo...it's lovely! And since you are tall you really will be able to pull it off!
Wow! That is a great dress. And being tall it will really flatter you. It's dressy enough and it looks great!
First of all, the dress is stunning--not costumey at all. And I'm sure it looks great on you (it helps that you're tall). But since you already bought it, there's not a lot you can do. As hard as it is, trust in yourself and the decision you've already made. I guarantee when the dress comes in and you get to try it on again, all doubt will fade.
The dress is absolutely gorgeous and not costume-y in the slightest. I definitely agree with ljlkclark that trying it on again will get rid of any fears you have regarding the dress.
very nice. I like. GOOD JOB!!! It doesn't look like a costume.
gorgeous dress -- not costumey at all! i attended a wedding last year where the tall bride wore a mermaid shape gown and it looked great on her!
I think the dress is BEAUTIFUL. Perfect for the black tie. And don't worry about the Catholic wedding. Me and everyone I know all got strapless dresses and have worn or are wearing them to the church..
SOME priests may ask you to cover your shoulders...then youd just get a nice organza shawl and do a little coverage...but you might just get away with it. im getting married in november, in a church and Im going bare shoulders.
Awesome pick, beautiful dress. Congratulations!
That dress is soooo beautiful! The important thing is if it looks good on you when you try it on. I've tried on dresses that looked pretty in pictures but gross on my body type.
omigosh - that's sooo pretty! i love the tiers on the trumpet skirt. Congrats!!
I love it, especially 'cause it's so different! I say, you go girl - wear it proudly! And be sure to show us pictures!!

My wedding is next July (2009) in NYC, catholic church & black tie, I THOUGHt I wanted a simple classic dress..but I ended up buying this Christos dress on a whim... feedback? I am tall 5'9, hope to be in good shape so that it flatters! I am getting nervous about it...I hope it doesn't look like I'm wearing a costume.
