(bump) I'm curious about this, too! Any testimonials? :) Do you feel like this is a good, tough workout?
I'm curious about Zumba in general-- I have been wanting to try a class & probably will when my fall semester starts.
I went to a real class after people on here were talking about it.
I'm terrible at it, I feel like a clumsy goober the whole time but I love it! it's so much fun. I can't do videos because I will just stop in the middle I don't have a lot of willpower so I have to go to a class. I have to feel peer pressured into it.
I go 2-3 times a week now. Zumba is awesome!
I've never been to Zumba but I'm curious about it. My mom and her friends (all in their 50s) loved it and lost a lot of weight doing it.
I saw the infomercial and was completely sold, unfortunately when I got the DVD's it was awful. I think if I took it class it would be way better. I would not recommend these DVD's, it's waste of money.
The DVDs are OK. The classes are fantastic! To get a sense, you can look on youtube, as many instructors post sample dances there.
I've never used the DVDs but I go to Zumba classes twice a week. It's so much fun!!
Well, hopefully it will work out. I love videos over classes, so even if it is super cheesy I'll doo ok if it actually works.
I love the Zumba classes at my gym. Although I don't feel like I am getting as good of workout as I do with my Body Combat classes, Zumba is just so much fun! Anytime I am feeling stressed or low, Zumba always has me leaving with a smile!
An update on my part: I've done the first 10 days and I've lost 10 pounds, so thats good and I had been working out before so it's not just that initial bump people sometimes get.
@sironel: Which DVDs are you using? The original zumba set? Congrats on your success!
For someone with no coordination and rhythm whatsoever, are the steps easy to follow? This is coming from someone who couldn't keep up with "Sweating to the Oldies" because it was too complicated, lol...seriously!
I tried doing the classes at my gym for a month and really didn't like it. I was surprised - I LOVE dancing! But the classes were just too crowded (which is my gym's fault and if they ever settle down I may try again) and were so full that you couldn't even move to do the steps. It meant that you were barely moving and not getting any aerobic benefit.
@MadiLove918:It's the current set on the infomercials (with the shaker weights/toning sticks)
@AudzinLuv: I am pretty uncoordinated, and it took a couple times through the actual workouts to pick stuff up. I did modify some things I couldn't do, but the dvd that breaks down the moves is helpful, because it makes it easy to learn and gives you a breakdown of the moves so if there are any you cannot do you have an easier option.

I just placed the order-- I had been wanting to, but never had and kept longing after going to classes. But I do not do well in groups (I have anxiety issues with crowds and closeness) Anyway, has anyone used the Zumba dvds and liked them?
