Yes, you’re being irrational. You know the ring is coming this week, you even have a year in mind and you’re communicating with your man. The only time I would reconsider planning without the ring is if you didn’t know when the ring was coming  or if your man refused to talk specifics with you. I think you are just fine to begin planning.

Truthfully, I refused to begin planning until I had a ring on my finger even though my man and I picked out the ring and he knew when it was coming in the mail. However once he proposed 3 days before my mom had surgery, I started doing research the next day.

If you are uncomfortable planning until you’ve got the ring on your finger, that’s okay. It’s up to you and your FI.

KatJoy227:  Id say keep researching but wait till you have your ring and it’s public if you want! Sounds like it’ll only be a few weeks. And knowing what you want is a huuuuuge part of planning. So keep researching!

KatJoy227:  I know that feeling! It’s definitely very surreal.

Use this time (pre-engagement) to do a lot of research. That way, you won’t have so much to do after the ring is on your finger.
