    hi all.

despite it only being tuesday, i am having a horrible week. i am too scared of this being found to share the details here, but a family member and i are not getting along and its hard.

somehow over the last 6 months i have become a very consistent dieter and exerciser. i promise i don't over-do it & i just maintain my weight..no crazy swings or anything like that. but...with the stress of the week, the miserable 100 degree weather here, and general laziness i really want to take the week off. i feel so guilty.

is it ok to take a break this week? please help me feel better about it. Embarassed

***SORRY! Edited to add I mean just skipping regularly scheduled exercise. Not going to go bake a cake and eat the whole thing or anything like that.

I am sorry you are having a bad time.

I would say, yes, it is okay to take a break. Just don't undo what you have already done, and you will be fine.

Oftentimes when I'm feeling crappy, I don't feel like working out either. Yet, if I force myself too, I feel better afterwards. It lifts my spirits and makes me feel strong.

Of course it is. Sometimes when body builders are plateauing, they take a week off to recuperate and then get back to it. It actually helps to give your body a rest. You might end up coming back stronger and energized to get going again.

So it might be a good thing, not something to feel bad about :)

Honestly, why are you so upset about working out and not being found on wedding bee if you aren't servely overweight or in need of serious help due to your weight?

We all go through good and bad weeks, especially considering how stressful wedding planning can be.  While its always important to do things in moderation, eating, drinking, even exercising, its not a bad thing to give yourself a break every now and again.  Eat that candy bar if you are really dying to or skip that one day or two of working out.  If you are at a healthy weight and your overall health is good, don't worry about it.  Just breathe!

    Good luck lady!

Sometimes I need a break from exercise and I feel much better than if I force myself to go.  Other times I am glad I decided to go and I feel good about myself and have time to let out stress by sweating it out.  It really depends on the situation though, so if you feel like you need a break, then take a break.  You just have to make sure you pick it back up next week so you don't get caught in a rut!  Hope you feel better soon :)

Taking a break every so often is fine!  As long as it doesn't become a consistent break where you don't exercise anymore, don't worry about it!

thanks everyone! you are all so sweet.

deep down i know there is nothing wrong with needing a break. i think i just wanted to hear it from you all. i tend to put a lot of pressure on myself in all aspects of life...sticking to my exercise plans is no different. mrs. louboutin, you're definitely right that wedding planning plays a part in all of this as well. its one more thing that i stress over and want to do PERFECTLY.

i also like what some of you mentioned about coming back STRONGER after my little break! i am going to focus on that and think positive.

i am currently posting from the comfort of my couch, and i plan to stay here and enjoy it this evening! thank you all again. weddingbee is the best.

It is the days off that your body recovers - they are essential! So yeah - take a few off and give you body a chance to recover. Have another diet coke :-)

I hear ya! I've slacked off this week majorly. My mother was visiting from out of state and the weather here is INSANELY hotand I just haven't felt like working out. I think it's fine to take a break every once and awhile :) Nothing you can do about it now. Just get back into it. I worked out today and I feel MUCH better...though I have my first dress fitting tomorow and I think I've gained a pound or two back that I lost. But I'm trying to be realistic and not be too hard on myself.

I think if you're going to take a break, it's better if you DECIDE that this week you take a break, and actually enjoy it, rather than skipping workouts and promising yourself that you'll do more the next day and feeling guilty. Know what I mean? Otherwise the break will not make you feel better, and somehow your body seems to get that...

@egb: really good point.  i don't want to be back here next week telling all of you that i felt like a failure all week and weekend and still feel guilty and....etc.!

i am deciding and declaring this week is a break! tuesday june 29 - monday july 5. after thoroughly enjoying the holiday weekend and my rest, i will be back better than ever on tuesday!

hope all of you have great 4ths!
