So this has been on my mind for a while now…
Have you guys noticed the huge increase in facebook statuses with the tage “feeling blessed” attached? For some reason it irks me a bit.
I mean first off, most of the people using it are not actually religious wihch is the meaning usually attached to “blessed.”
Secondly, for me at least it’s like well God doesnt love you any more than the rest of us bc you got a great parking spot/vacation/lots of bday wishes as in “Oh, I just gpt back from my caribbean vacation with a great tan –Feeling Blessed” I think this point is the one that bugs me the most. It’s almost like let me rub it in… Just saying “Just came back from a great vacation” is not rubbing it in, but adding in that “feeling blessed” does! Furthermore, well gosh darn it, I feel “blessed” in the fortunate/thankfful sense that I woke up this morning, God doesn’t love me more when good things happen.
Thirdly, do people say this in real life? Like run around saying it? IF so I would be more “forgiving” of it used in FB land but the fact that it’s reserved for social media is weird to me.
Gah, I mean it’s not keeping me up awake or getting my blood boiling, and I know it’s just facebook but there’s something about it that just makes me roll my eyes…
Full disclosure: I used it too when it first became an option on FB. Used it once. Also, I consider myself religious in that I have faith and pray but do not go to church weekly or strictly adhere to the catholic mandates.

@HourThyme: I’m feeling blessed that I don’t do this on facebook.
I have seen it a bit, but I honestly don’t pay any attention to it. People always make things seem better than they actually are on facebook. If they believe they were blessed or if they feel grateful that they got a good parking spot, I’m not going to argue.

Oh I totally agree.
I see a lot of celebrities do it on Instagram these days, and it’s so annoying. It’s like their way of saying “Look at me… I am posting these fabulous photos to make you all jealous, but I want you to know how grateful I am for it”. Gag.

@HourThyme: me too! I’ve noticed an increase in “my heart is full” comments as well and they make me want to gag. My heart is full of blood and thats about it!

Feeling blessed that I deleted my Facebook account

@HourThyme: lol I have seen an influx of this over the past few months, too. Always from non-religious people with questionable morals in my opinion. It’s very odd. I don’t really pay much attention, but too many #feelingblessed and you’ll be blocked or defriended!

@HourThyme: hahahahahahaha i feel like we should be friends in real life. This is hilarious and so very true!

I agree. This is definetly on my list of annoying saying used on social media along with “just saying” and “real talk”

I have and will continue to use this… I really am grateful to my Lord and Savior for many things that I have, big and small… I do not say it about everything, though… I don’t think “feeling blessed” is the same as saying “feeling better than all of you peasants” which is what you seem to be equating it with. It is alright to feel thankful, but I don’t think people should use it in a twisted way, which is possible. I get more annoyed by porn and gross videos that start playing on their own on FB… Please, keep in mind that FB is the place where everyone has a perfect life and no real problems, haha! When I keep that in perspective, I am annoyed a lot less.

Can’t stand it. I have to stifle a gag and a massive eye-roll every time one pops up on my news feed.

My religious friends all say it on the regular – on FB and outside of it. They’re so blessed they passed a test, so blessed they got that great parking spot, and then for bigger things too, like friends/family/health.

I use this. I don’t see a problem with it. I am blessed everyday, somethings big, somethings small.

@HourThyme: Anything religious on facebook irks me.
I have a handful of friends who are die-hards about religion and post Bible verses, inspirational quotes, etc. Makes me want to puke my guts out.
I consider myself a Deist- I believe in “God” but not a Christian/Jewish/Muslim/etc God. So any talk of organized religion irks me.

I don’t see the problem, I just dislike it when people overtly brag. Saying that you feel blessed isn’t bragging imo it’s just expressing thanks and gratitude, nothing wrong with that.

That I agree with, it irks me too because the friends that do that will go cursing someone out in their next status or post judgemental statuses about other people.
