- Wedding: Tom's Country Place
Well first off, I should probably introduce myself. I’m new to Weddingbee and *gasp* am actually not even engaged yet. Although my sweetie and I are high school sweethearts and have been dating for almost 7 years, so I think that counts for something. I’m hoping for/expecting the ring this May/June. (A rose-gold morganite inspired by all you bees out there!)
I’m a very creative person (read: crafty) as well as a planner and after asking him if it was okay to go ahead and get started on some crafts he thought that was a good idea since I intended to DIY so many things.
I have several things in the works but here is the first fully completed piece, the cake-shaped card box.
My best friend actually had a cake-shaped card box gifted to her to match her wedding colors. Here is her card box, made with much more expensively than mine (assumingly by someone who has done this before!). Her colors were coral, orange and soft yellow (very summery). It was my inspiration, although of course I looked for more similar options on Weddingbee and Pinterest.
The colors I have chosen are some combination of poppy red, hot pink, moss green and mint–I’m hoping it ends up looking more Kate Spade than Christmas-y since we’re thinking warm-weather rather than winter. FYI the pink is not featured in this project.
Anyways, here’s the final result (you can see more of the glitter in this photo!), since this photo was taken I have added some frilly trim to the inside of the card hole so that it looks more finished. I love that hobnail-look so that was the basis for everything, since I would want a real cake to have that detail.
Sorry for the less than awesome-quality photos, they’re all from cell phones!
I promise to write another post soon with a tutorial on how I did it including an updated photo!!
