Since you are a nurse, can you have a test done at the hospital? They are more accurate than the at home ones aren't they?
I would go see a doctor! If you have workplace risks, its definitely worth the visit, just in case!
@MissAsB: @huckleberry783: The blood tests that read the actual bHCG number are more accurate, the urine tests are the same. I could ask one of the maternity doctors to write me a requisition, but I don't work for a few more days, and the way gossip goes in the hospital, they whole hospital will know what is going on before I have a chance to tell DH. Even with the extra precautions, I was hopeful that I could keep a pregnancy under wraps for as long as possible at work. Otherwise I will have to go to a walk-in clinic, and I hate those places, and usually they will only do a urine test.
I just don't want to turn into a psycho constant tester, if these are just coming off of BC symptoms, and not actual pregnancy symptoms ... you know?
Try a digital test. They tend to be the most sensitive. You are certainly describing pregnancy symptoms!
@Mrs. DG: I am using a test that detects 20 mlU/ml hcg - maybe I should re-test in the morning (since it will have been 7 days), I have a few more of these tests. Do you know offhand what the threshold for the digital tests are?
20 is pretty much the threshold, but there is some anecdotal evidence that some detect lower levels. Here's a website that I found:
So, today was another negative by a regular (urine) test. I will do a digital in a week (I am trying to limit to 1 test/week). I was super nauseated at 5am on my night shift last night (and I was well rested - so not normal for me) and all my other symptoms are still existing. My plan is that I get a negative digital in a week, and I am still symptomatic with no signs of AF to go see my doctor.
Well it has been 2 more weeks, I have just been using my tests I have ordered online, and 2 more negatives, with all the same symptoms, and no AF ... DH is starting to get concerned that I should see a doctor either way ... At this point it has been 2 1/2 months (10 weeks) off of BC!
Your doc can perhaps jump start things so that you can start with a regular cycle again.
When I went off Depo, it probably took me about 4 months (after my first MISSED shot) to get a period again, which my doc said wasn't uncommon.
Also, after years of Depo and not having any of the symptoms that women often have with regular menstrual cycles, I was surprised to start experiencing again a lot of the things you mentioned- sore boobs, cramping, fatigue, etc.- but for me they weren't related to pregnancy, they were related to starting to have normal cycles again.
@Lozza: I was on depo for just over a year this time, last time I was on it was about 5 years ago, and was on it for 3 years, and was back to normal as soon as I missed a shot (ie had bleeding 2 weeks after the missed shot then right onto a 30-32 day cycle.) so for me this isn't a normal withdrawl from the depo ...

I knew that when I came off of depo-provera, the average time to conception was 6 months, so I am not really expecting anything anytime soon. I missed my shot that was due July 14th, so I am ~7 weeks off of birth control. I have not had any substantial spotting, and AF has not come for a visit as of yet.
I have been having a ton of symptoms such as really sore/heavy breasts, I have to pee a ton, I am always tired, I have had occasional cramping throughout the past week, and I am nauseated when my stomach is empty, in the early morning on night shifts, and throughout the early part of my shift on day shifts (it could be tiredness - but that has never been an issue for me before).
Part of me knows the chances I am pregnant are slim to none. I took a test a week ago and it was negative, but I just feel like I am in limbo. I don't want to waste a ton of tests, but if I am pregnant I need to know because I need to take precautions at work (I am a nurse, and should take extra precautions with x-rays, administering some meds, etc).
I just don't know what to do, and need someone to give me some advice!
