I had to work, and so did FI. Then he came over to my house (live with parents) and brought me flowers, cards. BUT even though… it still felt pretty lonely. I honestly doesn’t feel like that big of a deal to me. I would rather not have him spend money on it. I think having to work really was the thing that made it non special for me. So I completely understand. *hugs from CA* Hope you feel better.

Hugs to you! I know it can be hard when you are between places and your partner is away. Maybe treat yourself a little bit with something tasty to eat, and arrange a ‘make-up’ Valentine’s in a week or two when FI gets back? That might help to give you something to get excited about! As a bonus, it will be a lot less crowded then. 😛

Look at it this way. Valentine’s Day is basically a fake holiday…. so, really, this was just like any other Friday. There are plenty of future days for you guys to spend together uninterrupted. 🙂

@Silly_love:  Make-up Valentine’s are the best! Flowers cost half the price, chocolate is usually on sale, and restaurant bookings are easier and cheaper to get. I say enjoy it and take full advantage!

@Silly_love:  I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I can imagine that it’s tough, especially with everyone on social media bragging posting pictures of their V-day.

If it makes you feel any better, I’m completely stressed out (and breaking out on my face) from wedding planning, my fiancé and I are long distance and I miss him tons, and this marks the 4th V-day that we have not been able to spend together since we started dating. It is what it is. We did just Skype for over 3 hours but of course it’s not the same as spending time in person together.

I think whatever day he comes back, you should celebrate Valentine’s Day on that day! Go out to dinner, get some red hot lingerie, etc. etc. etc. Make it special. Doesn’t have to be on “Feb 14”.
