I have this pair of workpants I bought awhile back. When I first bought them, they fit ok but were a tiny bit snug. I wore them several times, but apparently I had gained a couple of lbs because they got tighter so I hung them in the closet & told myself I wouldn’t wear them again until I had lost some weight. Well, for the past 3 weeks I’ve been doing pretty well. I changed my diet for the better & started working out. The scale says I lost about 3 lbs & my measurements are smaller (especially in the tummy area) than when I began.
This morning I made the mistake of trying those pants on thinking for sure they would fit this time. Still tight in the stomach area. Ruined my whole morning. I hung them back up in the closet & was so depressed that I no longer felt like working out today. I started bad-mouthing myself (hubby was still laying in bed) saying how fat I was & how it’s not working, there’s no point, etc.. I was VERY upset. Even did some crying.
He didn’t get why I was so upset. He told me I look great in all my other pants so WHY am I so concerned about THOSE pants? He was being serious, but the way he was saying it was making me want to laugh, which pissed me off even more because I was NOT in the mood to laugh.
Anyway, the point of my story is, I want to burn that pair of pants.

you are clearly making progress – don’t let one pair of pants get you down!

Seriously, I agree with other PP, burn ’em! I think it’s a bad choice to keep “skinny clothes” in your closet. You are obviously already making progress, and I don’t think you should find the motivation/reward for that in a pair of pants. Think about how great you feel, how much more energy you have, how much more you like your body, etc! Pants can’t give that to you, and if that’s your motivation, staying healthy won’t last for long. Just my two cents!

I don’t know which I would get more satisfaction out of: burning them or shredding them with something very sharp 🙂

Get rid of them! They’ll just make you feel worse every time you look at them. Seriously, just get rid of it. You said yourself that you’re making progress and you should be proud of yourself 🙂

I have a pair of blush colored dress pants i haven’t worn since June for this reason. They are SNUG.
BUT, don’t get down so hard on yourself. No pity parties! That makes it harder to bounce back if you let the little stuff send you into a frenzy! Tell yourself you had a salt bloat day, then try them on in a month =]. Don’t get me wrong, sometmes we gotta let it out, just don’t let it get ot you EVERY time you try on “the pants” dun dun dun.
I’m a sicko who gauges their weight in general by how my cltohes fit otherwise i’d end up buying bigger and bigger and bigger pants =(
