Oklahoma just had a 5. something on the scale earthquake, you must be close!
I am in KC and my couch started shaking. I have never felt that before in Kansas!!
@Eva Peron: Yes, I am in Missouri, very close! Such a strange feeling! I know others have been through it several times and how devastating they can be, but it always seemed so "far" away, if that makes any sense. Hopefully no damages in Oklahoma.
My brother is in Wichita, Kansas and just posted on FB that he felt one too.
Was it a rolling or shaking feeling? I have felt a rolling one before. Very creepy!
@luvmyDwight: It was a shaking. Honestly it felt like my phone had fallen down the couch and was vibrating. Then some picture frames fell over and my dog started barking. The weird part was it lasted for a good minute or two.
This country has been going crazy ! Earthquakes in Oklahoma...
Well you beat the major news stations, they are just now reporting it! Wedding Bee is the new CNN lol
Glad you are alright, that is pretty scarey!!
@Eva Peron: Oh, it was fine! :-) Just weird! My husband is at work all night too with no cell phone access until his hospital shift ends, so I can't even talk to him about it ;-) I called my mom though. She's two hours away and didn't feel anything.
It just hit our local news channels, no damages anywhere reported so far, yay!
I'm in Wichita and we felt it. Scary! I'm wondering if this is normal in this area? Lol I grew up hearing a lot about the "End Times." kinda freaks me out :S
@elliestan: Hope you are okay! Scary! I just thought it was neat that I finally felt something (not that I find natural disasters amusing)
@Lindsay12.31.2010: yeah, they haven't shown much about this one, but we had a 4.7 at like 2am and there's been reported damage from that so i imagine there will be from this one. i'm in OKC was lying on the couch and thought it was a tree falling or crazy wind or something but when i jumped up the ground was rumbling and uh.. i figured it out from there! my family in tulsa and in dallas both felt it too.
@swanks4tw: it is pretty normal, just not of this magnitude, we usually only get tiny ones that you can't feel.
I'm in Los Angeles :) Unless furniture is tipping over, we're so used to earthquakes that we pretty much ignore them! One summer I was working in an older research lab and we had a decently sized earthquake. We had all our chemicals and lab supplies stored on high shelves with cord running along them to secure the bottles. Everything started shaking and rattling but since the bottles and equiptment only bounced and didn't fall, no one bothered to stop working! When we went outside after to check on the other labs, no one else had stopped working either lol.
We also get a lot of wildfires as well so people who live near high risk areas are used to evacuating. All the dry weather here makes for terrible fire conditions. Now, if there were a hurricane or flood or some other natural disaster, I'm not sure we'd have any idea what to do!
I felt it in DFW! It was my first earthquake that I actually felt. I reported feeling it and feel really imporant, haha!
I felt the one we had at 2 a.m and the one we had tonight. It was weird and a little creepy, but not too scary.
Lol, that is so sweet, im from NZ, my FI and his family is from Christchurch and they have been having really big earthquakes all year, whenever we go visit there are three or four earthquakes, you get used to it, but can be a little scary

After 25 years, I felt my first earthquake tremor tonight. I was sitting in the recliner, and it started vibrating, it felt like my phone slid down the chair and was going off.
Any other Midwest Bees feel anything?
