I don't have PCOS but I have been on both Clomid and Femara. I was not successful with either. But I have also never had a cycle on my own and they can't figure out why. So I think that is why I am not responding to any medications.
The first round we tried Clomid escalation where they started me at 50mg and then I was checked to see if any follicles had been produced. There wasn't so they were able to up the Clomid to 100mg right away, I didn't have to wait for my next cycle. Unfortunately I still didn't get pregnant. The next month they switched me to Femara but I did not respond at all. Our next move is to injectibles, I think it is called Gonal-F.
With the Clomid and Femara I was extremely emotional and had a lot of hot flashes. Luckily I told DH what to expect and he was very supportive when I would start crying over little things...
Hopefully you will have better luck! It sounds like you and your doctor have a good plan started.
@sweetkate: Thanks for sharing! I too have never had a cycle on my own. But, after tons of blood tests, my newest (I move a lot) doctor diagnosed me with PCOS.
Let us know how it goes! I am interested in hearing others stories too! Its really nice to hear success stories, especially when you are having a hard time.
I'm bumping this cause me and @Sweetkate would like to hear other's stories!
I know this is an old thread, but I have pcos did 3 failed rounds of clomid, 3 failed rounds of femara. Just did my 4th round of femara and waiting to see if that helped me to ovulate

I've read a lot of these boards and have seen that there are many of us struggling with PCOS. My doctor has me on Metformin (every day), Provera (Once a month for 10 days) and Femara (Cycle days 3-7). I'm on my second round of prover, first month of metformin, and about to start my first round of Femara in the next week or so.
My question is - have any of you used either Femara or Chlomid? What was your experience? How many rounds did you go through before you got pregnant? Were there any crazy side effects?
My doctor said that Femara can be more effective than Chlomid. And, in my online research, I've seen a ton of success stories. So, I was wondering if any of my fellow bees could share their story.
