Just curious to see if any other bees have dealt with something like this. Yesterday, coming home from work, I was entering an intersection with a stop light when I was involved in a fender bender.
I had the green light, and when I started to enter the intersection, a car came speeding into the intersection from my left. I slammed on my brakes and laid on the horn, but I clipped the rear bumper of the car as he left the intersection. When I got out the guy said something to the effect of “the light was yellow when I went under it”…I happen to know that the yellow light at that particular intersection is extremely short, but what I think happened is that the man was approaching the intersection, the light turned yellow, and he tried to speed across it to avoid stopping.
His car really only got scratched, and I thought mine was just scratched as well, but upon further inspection, the hood is slightly out of alignment. We only have liability on this particular car because it is almost 12 years old. I’m glad no one was hurt; does anyone know how things like this are usually settled? Yes, I did hit him, however, I had the green light when he was speeding into the intersection.
What do you think?
