Would you ride a ferris wheel during cocktail hour? I know people would be dressed up but it’s a bit of a calmer ride and the view from the top should be quite pretty. We don’t really have a theme but do you think this would be too kiddish or take away from the elegance of a wedding? I don’t want people equating it with a fair or anything.

@Kir32: I would LOVE to ride a ferris wheel at wedding. By far one of the coolest ideas ever. Do it! But if so, there must also be cotton candy. And funnel cake.

IMO, this is a little over the top (the big top lol), I think you might be seen as trying a little too hard

How in the hell would you get a ferris wheel to your wedding reception? Lol
ETA: I think I came off as a little judgey in that comment up there ^. I don’t think it would be awful… but I would hope you have a carnival theme or something going, otherwise it may look a little out of place. Personally, those things scare me so you couldn’t pay me to get on one. But if you had a whole theme going, I think it could work.
And yes you better have cotton candy and funnel cake! 😉

I would love, love, love this. I think it’s super romantic.

No only because I’m super scared of heights!

@Kir32: That sounds AWESOME!

@Omgbunnies: There is plenty of room for a ferris wheel and the park across the street from my venue has a yearly fair with a ferris wheel. I would likely use them. My venue is a ballroom but has multiple doors going out onto a patio with lawn behind that. Cocktail hour is also in a room with doors going onto the patio so it would be right there.
See I don’t want to do a fair-themed wedding so that is what is making me hesitate. I was thinking that it would just be a fun and romantic thing to do. There are a couple venues around here that have carousels in them and people always say that they are super fun to ride during the reception.

- Wedding: September 2014 - Lodge
@Kir32: A friend of mine did this. They had their first date at a theme park and he kissed her for the first time on the ferris wheel. It cost them a pretty penny to rent one but SOOO worth it in my opinion. They got awesome pictures riding it, kissing in the moonlight, aereal pictures of them dancing their first dance….Everyone rode the ferris wheel and loved it.
ETA: They didn’t have a fair themed wedding. It was just a regular wedding, with a ferris wheel to ride.

If there’s a park across the stree that usually does this, do you think parents would bring their kids to ride your ferris wheel?
Just a thought.
Otherwise I think it’s great and romantic and of course I would ride it!

@CakeyP: LOL I didn’t think of that. I don’t think they would…it would be visible behind the venue but clearly private.
