Weddingbee boards

Thanks to everyone for all the support I've gotten here, and hugs to all of you who are dealing with a loved one's illness while you're planning.

FFIL passed away tonight at 8:20 pm. I am still 800 miles away but FI and the rest of his family was there with him. I'll be flying out for the funeral this week.

I'm holding up and FI is "relieved" (his words). They are all exhausted from waiting it out with him.

Our wedding plans are on hold but I'm hoping that FI will be on board with continuing them once everything settles. I actually have a great idea for honoring FIL at our wedding but I won't share it here until FI gives it the green light. I very much hope he does. FFIL was so excited about our wedding that I know he would want us to continue our plans.

Remember - life is never ideal. We keep moving on despite the rocks that fall in our path. Cherish your families and everything meaningful in your life while you've got them.

sorry to hear about the loss of your in law, esp the sadness your fiance must feel.  i wish you guys the best and hope you will move foward and make ur wedding planning a happy and blissful event.

Thanks for all the warm thoughts. I'm in CT with everyone now. FI's stepmom has been telling me how excited FIL was for our wedding and she is too. We're going through with our wedding in June, but we've moved the date to two days later....FIL's birthday. FI will be wearing his wedding band. His brother will still get his June leave so he can be here.

This is a very sad experience, but FIL's presence can definitely be felt. In all the sadness there is still a bit of hope, humor, and love coming through. I'm so lucky to be a part of this family.
