@echolove:  oh my, my DH floated this idea with me and I wouldn’t have anything of it.  Definitely not for me!

FI joked about not shaving until the wedding, but has been forced to shave on numerous occasions for work, etc. I didn’t mind the idea. Just think of how handsome he’ll be once he does shave for the wedding! Plus, you never know. . . he could get bored of it.

@echolove:  tell him if he decides to do this then you are no longer going to shave your legs/arm or if trim certain area until the wdding… see what he says

Don’t forget that in the summer he will get a beard/mustache shaped tan…. not sure if will still matter in october but to be honest once its hot out in the summer I think he will give up ….. unless he has been a beard type guy in the past

My FI did that just so he can gross everyone out. I was on board because it was funny seeing people’s reactions. Eventually he did shave, and now that picture of his mustache is floating around on his Facebook forever lol

What is the reasoning behind not shaving until the wedding? I’ve never heard of this before. I would not be happy if my FI did this.

Er.. it’s his face? He can do what he wants with it.

That’s a long time to not shave. I would not be happy because I don’t like (long) facial hair much either. Yes, it’s his face and he can do what he wants but youd think he’d want you to think he’s attractive.

Some guys do this as kind of a ritual. Around here a LOT of guys don’t shave or cut their hair during hockey season because they’re superstitious that it might help their team win the playoffs.  Plus the whole Movember thing (a movement where men all over the US grow mustaches and don’t shave during November, to raise awareness and donations for prostate cancer research) has made the whole “I’m not shaving” a sort of man statement.  Kind of like ladies wearing all pink during Breast Cancer Awareness month.  There are also guys who shave their heads in March to raise donations for St Baldricks Society (a charity for sick kids).

Maybe he could talk his groomsmen into doing the same, and lining up with a charity drive such as Movember (even though you are marrying in October) so that it seems a little less aimless. Honestly I think it’s kind of cute that he wants to do something as an outward sign of his excitement and anticipation of marriage, so i would try to look past my personal preferences on his appearance, and let him have his fun. Even better if he can get others together and help out some people who really need it.  His charitable act may help the long facial hair be less unattractive to you in the bargain.

Well even without a wedding party, no reason he can’t try to get some of his male friends and family members on board.  I’m a huge believer in helping those in need, and if he can use his rapidly growing hair as a way to get people interested in a charity, then he will have such a sense of pride and accomplishment when he sees it all come together.

My fiance is cutting his hair but NOT shaving before the wedding. I hate beards. He says he wants to see the look of extreme happiness on my face when I see his forreals face for the first time in almost four months. I don’t understand boys. But whatever, his face, you know. It’s really ugly though.
