a 3rd party?  like a councelor or family member who can be impartial?  having someone between the 2 of you to bounce ideas off of, may help.  good luck.

I would highly recommend a prepare/enrich workshop or within our reach. Teaches some basic conversation skills, usually with a mentor present.

I found some links to people who migh put this on in your area:

http://www.prepinc.com/  Should be a “find a workshop” tool

http://www.prepare-enrich.com

Need to get those skills down now, cause that certainly wont change when you get married. I’d know who to send you to if you were in TX – as I am involved with getting these workshops open to the community 🙂

I second PopRox advice. You guys need to seek out someone who can work with you as a couple on creating effective communication skills. It’s likely your fiance just never really learned how to communicate effectively, so he might just need some guidance in that area.

Here’s a third vouch for some premarital counseling.  It can be hard to do, but it has made us much stronger as a couple and we are learning some good communication skills to help us in the future.

Does he do this all the time? My FH is a sometimes selective mute – and I focus on giving him very structured choices so he feels like he understands and has some input – and can indicate what he wants with a grunt.

But if this is and all the time issue, then fourth vote for counseling.
