Last night, we were supposed to have a date night (chinese food and a movie) but  FI fell asleep on the couch about 10 minutes into it.  I was so bummed.  So, being somewhat of a practical joker, I decided to put a temporary tattoo on his forehead.  It was a picture of a pink kitten with cross bones under it and said "Bad Kitty".

I know these rub off easily--I even left a bottle of rubbing alcohol on the bathroom counter for him!

Well, FI came home and stormed into the office and seemed uber pissed.  Apparently, he was running late this morning and didn't look in the mirror?  Yeah, he went to work with the tattoo on his forehead.  Our friend (who he works with), said no one told him about the tattoo until after lunch...and that everyone is now calling him "bad kitty".

I know this story is funny, but I actually feel terrible.  Who would have guessed that he was gonna skip the bathroom this morning?!?!?  He says my jokes are childish and he made me throw out all my temporary tattoos.  On normal days, he says he fell in love with me because of my sense of humor--now he hates it.  Oh man, I goofed big time.  I can't wait for the day that we can laugh this one off.

I'm so sorry, hon! In your defense, you had no way to know that he wasn't going to follow his morning routine. And now if you play a joke like that again, you know what to look out for.

On a side note...hehe, that was a good one. Hopefully that day to laugh it off is sooner than you think.

Sorry he's upset. Let him calm down--he'll be laughing soon too :D (well, it might be awhile esp with the new nickname ;))

*sigh...I'm a bit of a practical joker myself. My SO has to be in the right mood to find it as funny as I do. There have been some days in my house like what you're having. He WILL get past it, keep that in mind, but maybe make sure you let him know that you did put the rubbing alcohol in the bathroom and meant no harm. Good luck, don't stress too much, he loves you. Just make sure you don't lose part of who you are because he has his grouchy pants on. I can't tell you how many times I have to tell mine to take his grouchy pants off (of course he's turned that into a sex joke...*sigh...) :)

Oh boy. Um, really, I would be pissed too.  I guess it depends on where he works but where I work that would NEVER fly if someone showed up looking like that. Yeah, it's silly, but why didn't you check to make sure he would have removed it....but then again, I would have never put a tattoo on his forehead---maybe his chest but not his forehead.  I guess what I should say, how would you feel if he had put a tattoo of a PowerRanger on your forehead or something?  Not happy I'm sure.

That is so funny!  I would be mad if it were me though because it would cause a lot of problems at work and make him look less professional.  I would apologize to him and try and think of something that will make it up to him!

I'm sorry i'm snickering out loud at my desk at his being "bad kitty".

Why didn't he check his face in the mirror?! did he not wash his face or brush his teeth either?! Eek. That's worse!

It's just too funny to be a big deal. He'll get over it =]

Then again, I poked DH with a sharpie the other day cuz he wouldn't get off my leg. So maybe i'm just as much of a punk.

Teehee, thanks for the giggle. =]

@Curlysue--Yeah I would be pissed!  I guess I just never thought that he wouldn't use the bathroom before he left for work, that is super not typical of him.  And I didn't see him this morning, our schedules are very different.  :(   I definitely understand why he's upset.  My thought was that he would wake up, look in the mirror, get a laugh out of it, and remove it (and he WOULD have laughed had he found it this AM).  :(   But I get it, I definitely get why he's upset.

Ha ha that is hilarious. I wouldn't say it's your fault at all. I would say it's his for not even washing his face or brushing his teeth before he went to work.

I hate knowing that I embarrassed my hubby and that's probably how you're feeling.

One time we went out to a bar with some friends and I had a little too much too drink. He kept calling me over to come meet someone, but I was having too much fun dancing in the middle of the room like a crazy lady... well, finally when I go over to see what he wants he introduces me to his boss...

    I.Felt.Horrible.

I don't feel bad that I was dancing, as you shouldn't feel bad for having fun with your joke, but I felt awful about the fact that I'd embarrassed him.

He was a little peeved with me at first, but now we laugh about it.

That's funny! Sounds like his office was casual about it and got a giggle out of it too. His ego's probably a little hurt but he shouldn't be REALLY angry. Maybe do something to make it up to him and I'm sure he'll be over it quickly.

... If I were you I might not fall asleep before him tonight though. ;) LOL

I would totally antagonize the situation by petting my husband (not in a dirty way! ha!) and meowing at him just to be annoying =]

hahaha! That is awesome. He will get over it, you may just have to hear about it for a while.

I did something similar.. One night, my FI, brother and SIL, and I were all drinking and my brother passed out before anyone else. (We are old and do not hold our liquor well anymore). Any who, I was drunk and thought it would be hilarious to write "BALLS" on his forehead. Well, we all laughed at the time. But the next morning, who knew Sharpie marker was hard to get off? So.. he is a little hesitant to drink around me anymore, and any time we do, he always starts off with, "You aren't going to write "balls" on my face, are you?"

That really is hilarious and once the embarassment fades I'm sure he'll see the humor in the situation too.  Good luck riding out the storm until then!  I have to admit though, I didn't actually laugh out loud until I saw teaandtoast's comment.  I may or may not have snorted at that point.  :-)

Okay, that's really funny.  Totally get that he was upset, but seriously?!  How did he miss that?  If your bathroom is anything like every single one I've been in, it's nearly impossible to wash up / brush your teeth without catching a glimpse.

Can't wait until he calms down enough to realize how hilarious this is.  It's a good-natured prank and didn't do him any serious harm, so I'm sure once the annoyance wears off, he'll remember that this is part of why he loves you.

I guess Im a tightwad because I didnt find it that funny. I know you didnt mean any harm and i dont think poorly of you or anything, but i do feel for your SO. He is going to have a hard time living that down at work. I couldnt imagine doing that to my husband and I'd be furious if he did it to me (despitr the fact that my job wouldnt really suffer) anyway, i hope he feels better soon!

Oh dear.  I'm sorry that he's mad at you, but this is hysterical.  Hopefully with a little time you'll be able to laugh about that funny time when you put the tattoo on his forehead.  Seriously though, it's time to grovel a bit and make it up to him.  Maybe surprise him by cooking him a really nice dinner tomorrow night?  ...or buy him tickets to a concert or a sports event that you know he'll like?  Remind him of what a sweetheart you really are, and show him that you're really sorry... and all should be forgotten :-)

Thanks girls, you're right it's not as bad as it seems.  I have to say, FI and I laugh constantly.  We are funny people--that's what we DO.  We never go a day without laughing.  One of us is always breaking out into a crazy dance in the kitchen, while someone else is doing a funny impression, or joke, or hair do.  I guess that's why I feel so upset right now, we never get mad at jokes (but they're always within the privacy of our home, NOT WORK!)

My FI falls asleep at the drop of a hat and it annoys me.  I may have to invest in a few temporary tattoos!

I think that is great, and frankly it's hard to feel sorry for your FI if he went to work without brushing his teeth.

LOL - OMG THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD! I am SO sorry he is so seriously mad at you, and that is a HUGE coincidence that of ALL days he would skip to look in the mirror it is TODAY, but in my opinion he should be EQUALLY mad at his friends who let him walk around like that for hours!

I hope he gets over it and you can laugh about it later together!

Note: I am SO glad I didn't have a beverage or food in my mouth when I read this!

I think going to work without brushing your teeth is pretty gross!  I'm sorry he's mad, but it's pretty funny.  He'll see the humor in it eventually.
