I haven’t seen this before.  In what capacity does he want his kids on there?  Like, “join us as speechgal44 and Fi, and his children A and B, become a family”?  Or like they’re co-hosting?

I’ve never done this, but one invitation website I’ve visited suggests this for invitations with children’s names:

Jane Smith
and
David Jones
together with David’s children
Betty and Suzie
invite you to share with them
a celebration of love
Their marriage ceremony will take place
on Saturday, the first of August
two thousand and nine
at one o’clock in the afternoon
First Baptist Church
123 Any Street
Anytown, Anystate

I dont’t know how you’d word it, sorry.  The example above sounds like the children are getting married too…

Agree with PPs, the invitation is for your wedding, between the two of you.  It might be more appropriate (and easier) to name the children in a special way in the wedding program.  Just a thought.  🙂

we did it, our invitation is worded really casual though it goes

Groom and Bride

along with

child 1 and child 2

would be honored if

you would join them     etc…

we love it and my girls are really excited about it. They’re also 5 and 9 though so they’re excited period about the day.

I did this with my daughter. Ours is a more casual beach wedding, and the invites are on the casual side.

@BooRadley:  That’s a good point. I didn’t even really read the whole thing tbh…

What about something like:

Jane Smith
and
David Jones
together with David’s children
Betty and Suzie
invite you to share with them
a celebration of love
Jane and David’s marriage ceremony will take place
on Saturday, the first of August
two thousand and nine

@speechgal44:  We are doing it, ours is something like

Nathanial and Michelle (bride and groom)

along with Michael and Allison (the kids) request the honor of your presence…

some people mention it as inviting you to witness the joining of these two families…

I think I would include something about joining the families to make it sound natural. maybe this:

John Doe and Jane Smith

request the honor of your presence

at ______ place

as they exchange vows joining their familes together

John, Jane, Child 1 and Child 2 invite you to join them

at ____ reception celebrating their new family.

I was going to do this but change my mind last minute because we have a child together and one not and the wording seemed difficult to put together. Definitely check with the kids first.
