So FI came to me today and has said that he would like to wear an italian suit while his groomsmen wear a solid black suit. I don't know how I feel about that. I get the wanting to stand out from everyone thing, but up til now, I'd thought he'd was just going to have a different tie and/or bout.

    What do you think?

    The Italian:

I don't think it's a problem, especially if that's what he wants to wear.  But I'll add that my husband and our bridal party all wore suits they owned so they were all different anyway and I thought it looked great.

I think that would look good! The suit he likes isn't so different from what the GMs will be wearing that it will look weird. It's just different enough that he'll stand out, and why shouldn't he? He's the groom! :)

The suit should just have a similar shape and cut, but the color can be different.  I think it would be weird if the suits were totally different. So I think you're fine if by "Italian" you're talking about the pinstripes. When I think of an Italian suit, I think of a slim cut, flat front, narrow lapel suit, so I'm kind of confused.

As long as the cut/style of the suit are the same I think it will look good. And as long as you like it. haha.

I can't see the picture, but I think it's fine if he wnats a slightly different suit.  I mean, our wedding gowns look nothing like our BM's dresses, why should he have to wear the same suit with just a different vest/tie...

@brenda.m.fields:  He just keeps calling it the Italian suit, so I've just been going with his definition. But this is the picture he gave me. I will clarify with him about the cut.

I can't for the life of me figure out why that would be a problem. I don't suppose you're wearing a Bridesmaid dress?

It's great! We had my husband in a suit, and his GM in just suit pants, shirt and suspenders. We wanted him to stand out :) I thought it looked great.

I like the idea but then again our entire wedding party is going to be mismatched so I'm partial to the idea.

It'd be nice for him to stand out and that suit is super sharp.

I found this on the difference between American and Italian suits.
