My fiance got in a car accident about a month ago and broke his foot in two places and tore a ligament. He is okay now but he had to have surgery and has screws in his foot now and a big cast on his leg to keep everything in place. Luckily he is doing better and is in really good spirits. Plus he gets to play video games while he sits at home healing! 🙂 Unfortunately he can’t walk on it for about 3 months and needs to use crutches once the surgeon clears him to leave the house (which is next week). We put off the engagement shoot until he was feeling better and he told me we can do it once the doctor clears him.
So here is my question: What is some creative poses or engagement shots we can do to not display his big old cast. Lots of one sided poses? Me standing in front of his broken leg? Any ideas ladies?

@catrina13: I think if you make your photographer aware of the circumstances they’ll be able to work around it. Just take pictures like you normally would and I’m sure they will do a great job cropping and editing around his foot. If you focus too much on keeping his foot out of the pictures it may make you feel awkward and come across in the pictures. Good luck!

Why don’t you decorate the cast? Then it won’t look like a “cast” It’ll look COOL!

I think if your photographer knows ahead of time she/he will be able to work around it, put you guys in poses, etc.
What about decorating the cast with something cute like His name + your Name = love, initials or another saying (that he can handle having on his cast for another few months of course, lol. Then you could do a shot on a chair/sofa or bench with his leg on your lap, or him sitting on the ground in front of you.

Since your wedding isn’t until next April, why not wait for the E-pics until the cast comes off?

One of the blogger bees had a bright yellow cast in her e-pics. They actually were pretty cute. Just coordinate your outfit to the color (if it’s not just white).

See I’m all for working with what ya got but the fiance does not want to remember this time in his life. He does not like this whole cast situation at all. But yes, I think I’ll let the photog know and she can hopefully come up with some fun poses!

Why don’t you just postpone until he gets the cast off?

We want to use the photos on our wedding website and the website will be given out on our STDs so it needs to be done soonish. Honestly, to me, it’s not a big deal and I’m just happy he is okay but I thought I would get some opinions on different poses

maybe a rowboat! your FI could sit the entire time, the sides of the boat may conceal the cast, and they’re super cute to boot (pun not intended).
