So originally my fiance proposed with a gorgeous .75 ct asscher cut colorless IF Diamond in petite trellis platinum setting from Blue Nile. We loved it but when placed on my finger we both thought the setting seemed too thick (2.3mm). It took some glory away from the diamond. Also the ring was one size too large. We chose to change the setting within the 30 days to a pave 1.5mm petite cathedral setting.
Now I love the ring and it is gorgeous but my fiance wanted to make absolutely sure we bought the best ring for me and wants me to be perfectly happy. So we had pretty much crossed all options off our list except we werent sure what we thought of halos. So we went into Tiffanys just to try in some halos with thin pave bands. They were
Now I am confused what to think. Opinions please! Which would you prefer???
And just to reassure everyone, my fiance is definately the one with the idea of changing it again….he just wants it to be perfect and I understand. We only have about 10 days to decide before exchange period will be up.
The halo setting will be $500 more and I will be without the ring for 4-6 weeks.
Also note: We are in love with the diamond as that is what he proposed with on the great wall so we will only exchange the setting at Blue Nile if we do at all.

Either is beautiful but I have to admit, I kinda love the halo. I think you’ve got a beautiful ring either way, and it would be a long time without it…

Agree with pp. Imo halos take away from asscher cuts. Your ring now is gorgeous!!

@violet182: If you like the halo too, I say go for it!!!! Honestly, I love the halo on you best.. So pretty!

Please don’t change it. I really think that halos take away from step cuts. Your ring is perfect (and for the record I do prefer the second setting to the original one)!

I like it without the halo personally. It’s a beautiful ring.

I love the way your ring looks now. The pave band is a beautiful accent, but the halo takes away from the stone.

The asscher is such a unique stone, I think the halo detracts from its beauty. I think it should stand alone as you currently have it. So pretty!

I don’t think you can go wrong here. All of them are lovely. I’m a halo girl and appreciate the added finger coverage halos provide, but I actually think I like it best with the pave band. Pick whatever you and FI like best, with these options either way you will have a beautiful ring.

I like the paved band without the halo. I usually love halos, but with the cut of your stone I think it looks better on its own.

Please don’t halo it, it is so perfect without! And the halo hides the lovely cut corners on asschers.
