The instrumental was used for the grandparents and parents reception at a wedding i went to a couple weeks ago.
I know it's supposed to be a beautiful song, but it had a very eerie, carnival, creepy house feeling to it played on the organ and a lot of us were very "uhhhhhhh" about it. So, just stay away from the organ version =]
Thanks for the heads up! I think I want to actually use the movie soundtrack. My parents are immigrants and my dad has an accent quite similar to that of Tevye's.
Brilliant idea and super sweet. I might try to sneak a few extra waltz practices in with him somehow :) Cant wait to hear how it goes!

So, at first FI decided that we weren't going to do parent dances. Then I thought of how much my daddy (yes daddy) loves to dance and loves to dance with me (we danced away at my brother's wedding). Well, then I thought of how much my father loves a certain movie and it all clicked! Before I reveal the song, some history...
My daddy is a pretty stoic man. I've only seen him cry on a handful of occasions. He did not cry when my grandparents passed away (they were old and suffering), he didn't cry when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. It's not that he's insensitive, he's just not the crying type. That being said, he has cried on what I consider to be random occasions. Watching the Pops, or during Fiddler on the Roof, especially when Tzeital gets married and Tevye sings "Sunrise, sunset."
I told FI my idea, and he thought it was great. I youtubed sunrise sunset to hear it, and began to frown. I didn't think it was "danceable." That is until FI looked at me and said, but julita, that's a waltz. Daddy loves waltzes. His first dance with my mom was a waltz.
And the best part, I am not going to tell him. I think I will practice a waltz with him the day before, but will not tell him what we are dancing to. Needless to say, I'm excited.
Has anyone else used this song?
