has anyone looked at Fiji for a honeymoon destination? It sounded great initially, especially when combined with New Zealand, but the reviews for nearly all of the resorts have me nervous – rocky beaches, smelly seaweed, mosquitoes and well it takes two days to get there from the east coast. We’re reconsidering maybe turks and caicos or petit st vincent instead – closer and perhaps better beaches?

We were looking at Bora Bora originally but ruled out out due to costs and such extreme travel time. Have you looked at Costa Rica or Belize? We’re finding some great stuff there!

We actually looked into it (along with Bora Bora) but the cost alone drove me away. We could go to the Carribian for 2 weeks and spend less than a week there…and the travel to the south pacific scared me a bit.
Don’t know if that really helped at all….just sharing 🙂

The flight time was one of the reasons we ruled out Fiji–I didn’t want to spend so much precious vacation time traveling. If you guys do decide to go though, I’m sure you’ll have a fabulous time.
St. Lucia and St. Barths are also supposed to be beautiful. Turks & Caicos is of course gorgeous, the only negative I’ve heard is that there isn’t much to do except relax on the beach–not that that’s a bad thing!

If looking at Fiji.. check out Likuliku, the only resort in Fiji with the real over-water bures. We’re looking here based on friends’ experience and online reviews, and everything, thus far, seems pretty positive.
You prob. have a little more room to look elsewhere given your time of year, we’re stifled (Oct. wedding). We want a relaxing beach vacay, but in Oct. heard that options for consistent weather were limited to South Pacific and Hawaii…and we’ve already been to Hawaii
Much cheaper than bora bora/Tahiti, due to exchange rate of USD & FJD vs. the Euro.
