@sharri115: Did you ever find a pig for your wedding. If you go to an asian supermarket you may find what you are looking for. How many guests are you having? I know my mom has gotten a pig for my brothers b-day. My mom is filipino too.
@ItsDestiny: I actually ended up booking a venue in NJ. The wedding packages were just a better bargin and get much more out of what you're paying for. We ended up adding one to the cocktail hr. We're having about 100pll (hopefully less). It was a lot cheaper than I was expecting to pay for (but a lot more than if you purchased one from a filipino catering co., but they don't allow outside food to be brought in....health code reasons). I figured that I would have payed out the nose for one up in RI since there is not a filipino population up there.

Hi everyone,
This is my first post here and hope I can get some suggestions from you all. My fiancee is filipino and I'm american and both are from NJ living in RI. We plan to have our wedding up in RI instead of NJ just for ease of planning and less travel. The problem I'm having is trying to incorporate filipino aspects into the reception, mainly having a lechon (a whole suckling pig) during cocktail reception. Can anyone suggest any venues or caterers that will be willing to supply this? Unfortunately this is a staple in special events and there would be a lot of angry people at our wedding if we don't have this! I'm also really worried that this request will cost an arm and a leg b/c it's not a very common request. Thanks!
